So is New Zealand defender Winston Reid the last piece in Avram's jigsaw, or does his arrival point to the departure of one of Da Costa, Gabbidon, Upson or Tomkins? With the signing of Ben Haim, we are already top heavy with centre backs so either Avram plans to use the Kiwi in his secondary position of right back, or one of our centre halfs is heading for the exit.
Personally, I would be very disappointed to see Da Costa go because I think the boy has all the raw materials to be a very good centre half indeed. If we sell him now, I fear we may live to regret it.
Reid is apparently costing us £4m. That is probably staggered, like the Barerra deal, but I now make that £9m we have spent (without signing on fees) without the Davids recouping any money. Now, who could we sell to net that money back? Scott Parker anybody?
So, is that it or can we expect to see even more new arrivals? One thing's for sure, looking at that pic, the arrival of Reid will be popular over on WHTID!

Whats with the recent childish cheap shots at WHTID ? A good bit of business by G&S, we dont know the fitness of Haim hence the loan until January. If he proves his worth then we buy then, shrewd ! Im expecting or hoping for another 2/3 signings, fingers crossed...
It follows some cheap shots at this site over there mate. All is fair in love and West Ham. Yep, I think this was a good signing too. Hopefully, he will be used as a right back or Avram has one lined up!
Completely agree, I think this could prove to be a very shrewd signing. He looked pretty lively at the WC.
Hopefully it means that Upson is on his way out. His form was awful last year and he was possibly the worst WH captain I can remember. Didn't lead by example or vocally on the pitch - not from what I saw anyway.
If we can get £5m+ for him I'd jump all over it.
I'd keep Upson for his experience. I think he is due a good season.
Reid is a championship player at best!
The Spuds need a CH so they can have Upson. Let's get Sullivan to issue a statement saying that he's not for sale... :o)

Show a picture of a very attractive topless woman and say I would appreciate it woulld be fiine with me. Would that be hetrophobic? I don't think so! If you are homosexual, you probably wish to be treated on equal terms with hetrosexuals so why are you looking for different treatment? If I was gay, I would like that picture!

I'd be pleased to see Upson, Kovac or Spector go, would accept Behrami and Diamanti but would be disappointed to see Scotty go unless it is for a serious wedge - he is 30 after all!
Now that a week or so has elapsed since the Spurs tap up, even I am beginning to wonder why SP hasn't come out and done a 'Torres' if he really is committed to staying. I am concerned that we could be about to see another Defoe-ism here, i.e. 11.50pm on deadline day (oh, and to the Spuds!)
Ben Haim must have been signed just to give the guy employment, no other reason. He's injured, he's signed for 5 months, and he's rubbish. Nice little earner for him.

well... I've watched Winston Reid several times in the Danish Superliga, and I think it's an average signing... First of all he ain't a RB. He is a CB, I think that Tomkins is way better than him, and would be the ultimate star if he played for NZ(Tomkins). If we buy him, he's gonna be nothing but another player sitting on the bench counting his money - at least for the first two seasons or so IMO! He's a young player (22) so on the long sight it's alright, but I predict he'll never get a place in the first team, given the talent we already have, but then again you'll never know! he played 85 games for FCM scoring 2 goals, 10 games for the danish U21 team 0 goals, and 4 for the national team of NZ with one goal to follow.
Hes been a first team player for FC midtjylland for several years now, and is from the same football school as Simon Kjaer (The most expensive player this summer in the german bundesliga)Wolfsburg)), so wouldn't write him off just yet! but still - must admit im a sceptic, though Grant seem to know what he's doing!
