£9m for Cole? What a joke!
So the latest rumour is that Arsenal are preparing a £9m bid for Carlton Cole. If that offer is accepted, it will tell us everything we need to know about the club's aspirations, or rather the aspirations of the current owners.
The debate a while back was whether or not we should accept £20m for our England striker. The thinking was that this was a good price but, even then, we could not afford to let him go. Nothing has changed since. Franco has done well but is 33 and we have no other realistic options to play up front. Harewood is being mooted but he is a Fizzy Pop sub at Newscastle and is not a like for like replacement for Cole. Yes he has pace and yes he is strong (unless the game ticks past 90 minutes) but he does not have the ability to lead the line like Carlton and is not in the same class.
If Wenger does bid £9m our answer should consist of two words, with the second being off!

Where do you get these things? !!!
No chance Wenger will spend his precious money on Cole!
News Now mate! Although Wenger did tell me over dinner than he liked the look of Cole ; ]
Cole won't go. He's got a better opportunity to go to the WC if he plays. He will only be used for two months at Arsenal until their injured strikers are back. Wenger will then get Schmuck on free, which he loves, in the summer and there will be even more competition for places.
Cole also owes a lot to Zola. I hope this is where Zola being a gentleman pays dividends in that Cole wouldn't wanna skank him.
COLE is worth at least £15 million by todays prices and somehow I don't think ARSENAL will be parting with that kind of money.
This would typical Arsenal to bid £9m. However I really despise every paper at the moment and refuse to believe any of the BS they report. Good to see that Icelandic fellow being linked with us AGAIN! What tosh.
I think it is just rumour. I doubt COle could fit in Arsenal talented squad.
