Why would we want Bentley?

I'm confused, why exactly would we want David Bentley - unless one of Behrami or Parker is on his way out of course. S&G have already said that we are short up front and at the back, and overloaded with midfielders, so what's with the rumours that Bentley may be parked in our garage for the rest of the season? He is just what we don't need - a "wide" player who lacks the pace to get past fullbacks. And I've seen him played on the left, where Zola with his crazy obsession of playing wide men on the wrong flank would use him, and he was crap!

So what is going on? Is this just newspaper talk or are we about to cash in one of our prime dealing chips? Bentley (on loan)and Benjani in, with Behrami moving up the road to Unreal City perhaps? That would add up; but make sense? I don't think so!

I think it is all paper talk or Bentley's agent trying to get a move for him.

I cant beleive that Sullivan would do business with spurs after todays happenings.

To be honest i think he would be a great signing, Jimenez on the way out use the wages for Bentley, saying that i dont think Spurs will be doing business with us after Sullivans comments.... Plus just makes me hate Harry even more than Billy Bonds does after the Gudjohnson affair..

Got to disagree with you on this one HF.I like BENTLEY,has pace and a good crosser. If you watched last nights game ,we were crying out for some width.FAUBERT was trying to get forward, but ZOLA had him playing as full back, which was restricting him.

Its quite obvious why we would want him. He is a decent wide right player who can deliver decent balls into the box and score occasionally. We dont have that. Therefore he is a player we could use. Simple when you think about it for a second

Hi, i think bentley wud be a gd buy. At least he has a bit of flair or something special we dnt have. Shift behrami into centre with parker and bentley on wide right and collison on left. Sooner we shift noble on the better...all hes gt running for him is hes a local boy. He waste the ball far too much

Would hate to lose Noble, something inside me thinks that if he went, maybe not his performances would be missed but his mentality and presence. Watching the amount of short passing we play it seems that we get closed down very easily and we don't play the greatest one touch football, so perhaps getting Bentley in will see us play more long diagonal balls allowing us to switch flanks quicker, maybe!

Unlikely that the finances will run to a Bentley, even with a px on the Aston Martin.

Pity. Although we have got plenty of midfield players we need more width and someone like Bentley could solve that problem.

Various papers are reporting that Gudjohnsen is going to Spurs . Will he be 4th or 5th choice there? I am sure it is only a coincidence but Harry is in a spot of bother explaining a bank account in Monaco at the moment…

Don't want him. Wouldn't fit our style. Decent dead-ball specialist, but we have a better one in Diamanti anyway.

All things considered (attitude etc), he's just another Pennant.

What exactly is our style Stani Army? From watching the PORTSMOUTH game all I could see was a packed midfield to contain the opposition ,with no purpose going forward. We need to revert back to the good old 4-4-2 with 2 wingers and two front men.

Essex Hammer, I agree with you,
We need to go back to the good old 4-4-2 & the sooner the better.

Anybody fancy Robbie Keane? Might be more use to us than Bentley or Gudjohnsen.

There goes Gudjohnson...there goes Mutu too; he failed a fresh drugs test!

Has anyone signed yet? Still nothing official with McCarthy. Typical West Ham, no-one half decent really wants to play for us. Other teams fighting relegation have no problem signing players but its always a big f**king deal trying to get players to play in the claret and blue. Maybe we are Wet Spam....no balls, no spine, no pride, no hope! I think players see that, the way we play and never can hold a lead against anyone. We should start over and move the club, I'm with the porn star brady on this one.

I'm a great believer in 4-4-2 myself but I was talking about style not formation. Bentley wouldn't fit our intricate passing style. Wenger spotted this very early on for Arsenal.

If we revert to a 4-4-2 and wanted someone to play wide right as a conventional winger then he is at our club already (Stanislas).

And the reason we have to pack our midfield is because of weak individuals in defense and midfield. There is no way we can affford to carry the likes of Noble in a four man midfield.
