10 Talking Points from Everton, Arsenal, Man City, Villa, Wigan, Portsmouth, Burnley, Chelsea and MOTD

1. Julian Lescott said ahead of the game with Arsenal that his "head wasn't right for the match". I'VE GOT A TIP FOR YOU JULIAN, LOOK IN THE MIRROR MATE, YOUR HEAD ISN'T RIGHT FULL STOP. UNLESS YOU ARE BIDDING TO REPLACE KRYTEN IN RED DWARF!

2. Rumours of Arsenal's demise are a trifle premature.

3. Every England fan should hope that Arsenal's performance today was down more to Everton's incompetence than Arsenal's brilliance. There wasn't a single Englishman in that Arsenal team. Sod off to Real Madrid Wenger if that's the way you are going to play it in a World Cup year.

4. Bellyache was picked ahead of Tevez by Unreal City. For all the moaning about City's spending, it was good to see so many Brits and Irishmen in their side. Given, Richards, Dunne, Bellyache, Ireland, Barry and Wright-Phillips. It looks like Lescott might be joining them next week. I hope City finish above Arsenal for that reason alone.

5 Wigan looked good. I mooted Martinez as a West Ham manager when Curbishley walked - I'm happy with Zola but this debut in the Prem by the personable ex Swansea manager was promising.

6. Villa looked all over the place meanwhile. How big a loss is Barry going to prove to be? Everton and Villa losing, that has to be good news for our ambitions to push on.

7. Pompey look doomed. Their would be chairman looks like a very bad Arab Elvis impersonator.

8. Great to see Burnley's retro shirts - they put our claret and hardly any blue abortions to shame. As for Chelsea's zips! Well I suppose zippy would not be out of place at the Bridge given fatty Wilkins now looks remarkably like Rainbow's Bungle.

9. Shearer was on the wrong pundit panel tonight. He should be on the Football League show after his relegation with Newcastle. Match of the Day looked stale - Shearer, Hanson and Lineker are past it - and the format for the new Football League show is dreadful.

10. Warnock got his just deserts again!

i know its your blog, so u have every right to say what you want, but i find the comments on how u wish for citeh to finish above arsenal for the sole reason that they have moe englishman and irishman than arsenal!! absolutely racist u cunt, quality not quantity, jack wilshere, theo walcott, kieran gibbs, are three players who i think would get into the national side now ahead of any citeh player

Its not wenger's job to train players for the england team you bitter west ham mong. You should wish that man city don't do well because they are at your level and you will be in direct competition i.e. europa league places for seasons to come.

I do not need to look up xenophobia thanks, it is an irrational hatred of fereigners. I do not suffer from xenophobia and am delighted to see a MIX of British and 'foreign' players in OUR Premiership. However, like Platini, I favour a limit and believe teams in the English Premiership have a responsibility to develop and play Englsh born players. I suggest Jason that you look up the words "Patriotism", "Development" and "Responsibility". To the other Arsenal fan, yes it is Wenger's job to develop English talent. The exclusion of three potential members of our World Cup squad yesterday was bitterly disappointing for anybody who feels passionate about the English national football team.

I have received the Almunia and Ramsey comments as jokes.

Some very good points Hammersfan, many that I completely agree with (for once) but why the comments about Lescott's scars???

As someone that gets so much regular abuse on this blog I would have thought you were way above that level. I've got some quite bad scarring from a fire and unfortunately they carry a lot of emotional baggage with them.

I was at Uni with a guy who was sent into an industrial chimney to clean it. He moved a layer of soot and down on top of him came burning ashes. He ended up with burns to 80% of his body. Upon his return to Uni he was nicknamed Niki Lauder and reveled in it. A sense of humour goes a long way. I would be amazed if he is not called Kryton in the dressing room - it is not just the patchy skin but the shape of his head.

Fair enough HF. You're quite clealy an intelligent man but your comments come across as quite basic insults rather than innocent humour. Jim Davidson defends his humour in the same way but its still offensive to a lot of people.

A sense of humour is important, I'm not even close to being PC but with regard to his scars perhaps that's for him to decide before the rest of us join in.

His head is that shape because his skull was caved in by a car when he was five.

Not so funny really.

Maybe, but perhaps it was up to 40,000 hard working Evertonians and his manager whether he should play for the team or not. His abject performance, which displayed contempt for the supporters and the club which turned him into an international footballer, make him fair game for any and all abuse in my book. Why is it ok to mock Dowie for being ugly, and Mini Me Sammy Lee for being a short arsed barrel and Collins for being a "Ginge" but not ok to mock Lescott after he has shown himself to be a mercenary, selfish bastard? I think he deserves everything he gets personally. Some of those fans at Goodison Park spent their entire leisure budget for the week and were cheated by Kryten. If he joins Unreal City, there might be a few more drivers in Liverpool happy to collide with his head!

"have a loo in the mirror mate, your head aint right full stop" pmsl...lol

Maybe it's not right because Lescott's scars are a result of major head trauma at a very young age??? Hardly something to mock really.

I suppose you joined in with the chants about Lampard's dead mother as well? Was that fair game?

If you think he's a mercenary, selfish bastard (which I do) why not just say that and elaborate with some wit?

I'm fairly sure that you're probably an uncharismatic, lonely loser that sits with his laptop all day but to say that is just insulting and lacking in class. A bit like your comments.

On many occasions it seems that you're basically no less ignorant than the so called neanderthal fans that you spend so much time deriding on this site.
