Demba Ba - the New Defoe with Knobs On

So Dry Bones has upped and left, buggering off to the Barcodes just 6 months after joining us. It all sounded very dodgy when we signed Big Chief Broken Knee and, although it is not nice to wish ill on anybody, we all sincerely hope that the joint in question blows up like Pardew's dick just before the new season kicks off.

There's only one regret. That the punch thrown at the end of season gala ball didn't make a better connection!

Your right of course it is not nice to wish ill on anybody, so I sincerely hope that you........... well I won't say because I'd be just a childish, bitter and twisted as you so obviously are.

I hope you are strapped into that saddle because that is one hell of a high horse!

Naah HF, I really can't get that worked up about it. You didn't seriously expect him to stay did ya?

Hammersfan said...

I did actually. Let's face it, we're not talking Messi here, we're talking a slightly above average striker with a knackered knee and a questionable attitude.

Demba Ba is looking to make it in the EPL. He would have signed for Stoke in January as a first choice but came to us when we were the only option.
He did well for us but I can see little comparison with Defoe who had played the entire season for us and therefore was one of those truly guilty for our relegation. Slapping in a transfer request via his agent and the media the day after that 2-2 draw with Birmingham was too much in all reason.
Ba was only ever passing through, for me.

He'll be on strike again as soon as Ashley sells some more players.

Far too reasoned Headmaster. I'm going with bitter and twisted resentment here!

OK, I'll down a few beers (weirdly sober this evening) and join you in the hardened room of bitter and twisted cyncism. Hell, it's loads more fun!

Can't blame the guy. Only has been around for six months, no real loyalty or atleast enough to drop. The fool will break Im sort of glad cause when he breaks it won't be I'm the claret and blue.

Defoe was young, ambitious and by his own admission badly advised whereas Parker is old, trying to at last be an England regular (a chance he only got because of West Ham) and as HF pointed out asked for a transfer back when he signed a new contract still don't get how Parker can be blessed for wanting to improve himself and Defoe is villified, is it all black and white?

I thought he would stay as well, but that was because I assumed nobody else would be stupid enough to sign him to a permanent deal on his wage demands with a basketful of failed medicals.

But I forgot about Pards.

As I have said in other posts (doing this a lot more than I ever thought I would, HF. You're like a bloody cult and I drank the f-ing Kool Aid), Ba is nowhere near as good as he, his agent, and now Pards thinks he is. Give him credit. He has taken a 13 game run and turned it into a windfall. He's the flavor of the month, that is all.

We might very well have one hell of a laugh next summer when they head back down and we pass them in the warm night. Ba, your possible days in the Championship are not necessarily over!

LOL Headmaster, we will have to down a couple of those beers together at some point. Was talking about the blog with a mate tonight(Spurs fan) who is intrigued by characters behind the posts. He is in education (a Deputy Head of a secondary school) and we spent some time talking about you. Would be really good to put a face to the handle and chew the fat about West Ham, teacher pensions, the Condemns and whatever else comes up over an evening.

Dave, I so hope you are right. Wishing ill is wrong I know, but, to quote a former Newcastle manager, I would love it, just love it, if this blew up in Newcastle's face and in Ba's knee. I feel he used us appallingly. And the same goes for Hitzlsperger!

Hammersfan said...

Deane, I concur!

Not too sure about Hitz. We dont know what he would have said had Sam asked him to stay. He was thinking about it, and his sense of fairness might have made him hang around. But when Sam took the air out of sails he figured he should cut his losses and move on. In that case he didnt do anything that awful.

The most reasonable reports on Ba's deal with us was that we paid very little to Hoffenheim and his wages were based on appearances. With a failed medical that makes sense. I could also interpolate that Hoffenheim had a sell on clause, but they likely lost that when we went down. Ba's people gave everything asked and got the relegation release clause in return. It paid off for them, and we likely only had our collective egos bruised.

The BIG loser will likely be Pards ans Ashley. He is ok. No more. The Geordoes will tear him to bits when he either gets injured through a full campaign or he doesn't produce like the prima donna he is acting like.

Im gonna love to the whole thing go pear shaped.

HF..I've only recently been inclined to reply to your posts being a recent Twitter and am most impressed both with your articles and even more so your knowledge of the 'ammers..I've been an avid follower since 1966 when at primary school and your memory seems to go back this far at least!

oh yes, forgot to say, totally agree with your negative wishes for Ba..will there ever be another Brooking who will actually show loyalty to us?
I guess only when wages and agent influences are reduced..look forward to future posts..keep on being an nonpc as you like it's so refreshing to read.

Cheers hj. The memory only goes back to 68/69 actually. I remember the Cup being paraded on the open top bus in 64 because I was taken by my Dad to see it but no real knowledge and understandting of football until the 68/69 season, when I started buying Shoot magazine out of my pocket money and got my first Subuteo set for Christmas.

He's not Defoe, he didn't come through the Academy. He was signed for his prolific scoring record, so he's obviously a quality striker. Why would he have to stay at a crap club in disarray to appease mindless piss ants like yourself? And hoping his knee gives way? That's sick.
Also, why did you call them the "Condemns"...it's the Condems...you've drained all of the irony out of the elision. Penis.

Baa, probably because of his knee, was not ever put under any real playing time pressure with us, and because most of the time he played, we were being beaten easily, was not put under much physical pressure by the opposition. It will be a different state of affairs next season. The PL managers will be aware of him, and I honestly doubt he will be fit for very many games.

"no real knowledge and understandting of football until the 68/69 season"

I see no evidence that you picked up any understanding of football since then HF.
