Grant blames new boots

Avram Grant has put the poor first half performance at Anfield down to new boots. The Israeli explained: "In the light of all the injuries, we decided to trial new boots today that would offer greater protection to the players. After the experiment, we have decided that the answer is not, after all, lead boots."

West Ham has to fix up the back four before it has any chance of making any progress. Gabbidon is an accident (or two) waiting to happen (every game)! Spector is still in our books but thank God so far he did limited damage from picking up his salary. Tomkins is not a reliable defender and Illunga is not fit and out of form. That leaves us with Upson, Da Costa, Jacobsen and God I wish we had Daprella (we have not one reliable on the left). Oh yes I forgot, there is also Reid. The Jury is still out on him (maybe with time he will become good - but his is not ready to play the role now).

So we are very thin and fragile in defence. If we go down, it will be primarily for this rather any other reason. If we had Mourinho as a manager, the first thing he will look to fix up is the back four (indeed like he did in Real this year). Then we can think of adding some attacking flair where necessary. We are hopeless and managed by one who hasn't got a clue of how to turn it around. It maybe too late. But get someone else in well before January so that we at least have a realistic chance of staying up!

Once again Parker's performance proved that he is the most intelligent player on the books!

One word: Doomed.
