Half Time Birmingham 0 West Ham 0 - Better team, nothing to show for it!

So, the same old problems persist. We have been much the better team so far and the movement of the ball from box to box has been impressive, but when we get within 25 yards of goal, we are close to clueless. Yes Cole was unlucky with an acrobatic touch to an Obinna cross, brilliantly turned on to the post by Foster, and yes Cole nearly squeezed in another effort, after holding the ball and turning on the edge of the six yard box, but those attempts apart, there's been next to nothing by way of a goal threat from either team.

The crossing into the box has been woeful. This is a basic skill and yet, Obinna, that one cross apart, has consistently overhit or underhit his crosses - and that has been true of anybody else who has had a punt too. The freekicks from Jacobsen and Obinna, meanwhile, show why Noble is our regular set piece taker. At least he can beat the first man without sending the ball into bloody orbit!

It is a dangerous thing to say at half time, but the defence has looked strong, apart from when Carr has attacked Ilunga. Dear old Rita still looks half asleep and playing the ball inside him looks the easiest skill in the world. If Birmingham score, I reckon it will be via the Carr supply route. We were interested in Carr a couple of seasons back. Watching him today, I'm wondering why we didn't follow up that interest because he has been Birmingham's best player for me. Had he been on our books last season, he would have been an automatic choice ahead of Faubert and Spector!

Cole has been our best player by far, holding up the ball brilliantly and firing in four shots, three of which have been on target. The game, however, has 0-0 or 1-0 written all over it at this stage, and the worry is, I would back Birmingham to get any goal that is scored as we drop deeper second half.

I hope I am wrong!

So tired of watching West Ham destroying their result each time they are up front...I don't get it WHY for gods sake they always drop so fucking deep when they get the lead...

Thats the manager's fault, they make 2 changes after we score our 2nd. The game is turned on its head because our dumbass manager does nothing to counter those moves. Every bloody week they get our hopes up. SACK GRANT NOW!!!

It makes you want to weep.

Oh btw how is HF's famous Grantozola index now? you know the index you started to prove your point that grant was a better manager even though he actually had less premiership experience than Zola.

Hammersfan said...

Grant closed today. Zola's team lost at Birmingham. Idiot.

grant closed?

Zolas's team? remind me again - which players did he sign out of that lot?

18:12 good question mate... and it's all gone quiet over there - hahahaha

Hammersfan said...

Depends by what you mean by signed. Kovac, Franco, Diamanti and Nouble were all signed under Zola.

How many of today's team were signed by Grant? Jacobsen, Piqionne and Obinna. So, applying your logic, this isn't Grant's team. Plonker!

Hammersfan said...

Oops 1844, and I guess that makes you a dub ass too!

Hammersfan said...

Or a dumb ass even!

Kovac, Franco, Diamanti and Nouble.. hmm and Kovac came on in the 90th mintue- that must be the Zola team you're talking about.... I didn't say anything about Grants team, plumb

Hammersfan said...

Zola picked the team so it was his team. Zola determined the tactics, so it was his team. Simple.

Zola's effect was still clearly there, we played some sublime stuff. It's just that at 0-2 up, Grant didn't react, and he sticks with a keeper that makes major errors.

Now, we can only imagine how much progress Zola would have made unfortunately

Idiot.

what effect from zola, zola ruined nearly every player apart from carlton cole and even he didnt last long and name 1 games last season we played sublime stuff oh yer you cant because we played a midfield of behrami noble kovac parker upfront we had cole and damanti was on bench so you sir are a tosser
