Less than 3 weeks to kick off and still no signings.

Is it time to panic yet? The big kick off is now less than three weeks away and we still have a paper thin squad with no news of any imminent arrivals. If Parker, Barrera, Cole, Ilunga, Faubert and Green go in a rush, God help us.

True, if we keep that lot, things will not be that bad. I would fancy this team to finish in the top 4 of the Championship:

Green

Spence, Tomkins, Reid, Ilunga

Parker

Noble, Collison

Nolan

Piquionne, Cole

Subs: Stanislas, Barerra, Faye, Faubert, Sears, Boa, Lee, Stech, Nouble, Hall, Tombides, Hines, Brown

Have I forgotten anybody?

But if the big three go, along with Faubert, Barerra and Ilunga, we will struggle without decent recruitments. It is time for Sullivan and Gold to stop sitting on their hands and wallets!

Just the defence that worries me in your lineup HF.REID needs to prove himself before he gets my vote,as he never gave a good account of himself last season.SPENCE, a good up and coming talent ,but his inexperience tells me he is too risky to start matches with.ILUNGA is a worry, going by his from of recent seasons. If he can return to his first season form then there is no problem, but again is he worth the risk.ALLARDYCE ,no doubt will gauge his pre-season form and decide if a replacement needs to come in.TOMKINS no problems with him.....future ENGLAND centre back contender with CHRIS SMALLING.

DJ Campbell isn't going to QPR so that could become our next signing. Put Piquionne on the bench and put Campbell in and our attack looks good. Also I would like to see Stanislas play more this year because he looked real good in pre-season.

Fanno one big flaw in your team selection.... No width. Ever since we sold Etherington and started Playing Around with the formations we've looked pony. The team you have chosen has no wide players leaving 1 untried and untested full back and another one a donkey to cut out crosses. Too dangerous. How many games have we lost over the last couple of seasons because wide players on the opposition Have Been allowed to get crosses over at will? Your team selection will no way see us finish in the top 4

a bit of both Deane; not panicing yet HF.

Think we'll have our big three to kick off the season .. then there'll be the usual revolving door in the final 24 hours- not making any prediction about that !

"If Parker, Barrera, Cole, Ilunga, Faubert and Green go ", clubs are not exactly queueing around the block for them. Of those that have left (apart from Ba) they have either gone to leagues worse then the Championship or are claiming Job Seekers Allowance. Would Newcastle have signed Ba if a transfer fee had been involved? I doubt it. On a seperate point are we still restricted to a 24 man squad?

No wingers HF? Wasn't it you that slated zola week in week out for not using wingers even though I dont think we even had any in the squad? This team that you've just picked wouldn't get near top 4 because we would have no width which has been a major problem for a few seasons now. Last year we had that clown Grant playing Ba and Piquione wide and just lumping the ball over the top and with Zola we had no wide players whatsoever so all the opposition defence had to do was just defend with a tight midfield because they knew we could only play through the middle. Glad you're not manager HF.

Montano. I hear he's been very impressive so far this pre-season. I haven't seem any games myself. I'd like the young defensive players to step forward as that was our weakest area last year.

On the width front, offensively, I disagree. Piquionne operates down the channels well and Collison can pull wide. Defensively, it may be an issue but Stanislas and Barrera aren't going to offer much protection are they? Maybe Faubert on the right side of midfield? Or one man up front with Nolan playing off him and a four man midfield of Stanislas, Noble, Parker and Collison?

It seems to me from the recent Cole/No-Gud johnson fiasco that if no one's going out..NO ONE'S COMING IN.

By the end of this week Fat Sam needs to have a good idea as to what his team is. We should be focusing on team bonding by now. So players coming and going after this point will only set us back. One or two won't hurt perhaps, but surely five or six would just be taking the piss?

Since when has taking the piss worried Sullivan & Gold. I expect in their licensed branches of AS they have videos dedicated to it!

LOL I don't have a licensed branch anywhere near me so I couldn't say.
