There is a rumour that Southampton are weighing up a bid of £750,000 to take Luis Boa-Morte to St Mary's but I'm not having that. Why would any club PAY to SIGN Boa?
I suspect a journalist has got the wrong end of the stick here. It seems much more likely that we will pay cash strapped Southampton £750,000 to get him off our wage bill. Like that, Southampton would have to meet £250,000 in wages to employ Boa for a year to miss open goals and concede free kicks all over the pitch.

Cash strapped? Think you might need to check out the Saints financial position in a little more detail!
Cash strapped! think you have hold of the wrong end of a large stick
Shut up. He's exactly what we need in the rough and tumble of the Championship. Keep LBM!
what
what u mean man
I tend to agree with the above . Southampton are on the up and more than adequately funded, you are obviously not well informed about football finance.
Yes think you'll find Saints are the 5th richest club in the country!
THEY ARE ONE OF THE RICHEST CLUBS IN THE COUNTRY. RICHER THAN MOST IN THE PREMIERSHIP AND CERTAINLY THE RICHEST IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
THEY ARE OWNED BY THE LIEBHERRS
To all you Saints fans, QPR are owned by very rich guys but they are trying to stay in the Prem on the cheap. Sullivan and Gold are not hard up but they don't like parting with their money. The guy who owns Bristol City is not short of a bob or two but I don't see him splashing the cash. When you start spending big on players fair enough; until then, the club is not the same thing as the owners.
Idiot, we are absolutely financialy secure. You clearly don't have a clue about what you are reporting. Get you facts straight before you post garbage on the internet, it will prevent you from embarrasing yourself
If we were still in the Prem then SELL! SELL! SELL!
But now that we're in the Championship we must make him feel right at home! We need someone to get stuck in and hurt the opposition, plus we should only be looking to sell once we have brought about 5-6 more players! Having said that I can see Allardyce liking what he sees in Boa Morte.
P.S. Come back to the Org Fanno, it's f***ing boring without you! Coyi.
People keep on about Southampton beeing the 5th richest club in the country - NO, THE OWNERS ARE RICH. The club is worth the value of the players, ground, etc - after it pays all it's debts. And the team is only as good as it's league position - 2nd in league 1
You're correct - the club is definitely not the same as the owners, however Saint's owners have cleared tens of millions of debts, leaving the club debt free, and generously funded last seasons campaign. I don't think they are cash strapped...
Southampton, have no external debt, pay up front for transfer fees, own the stadium, own and are upgrading premier class training ground, 41 acres of potential building land. Don't need to sell and unlike WHU aren't throwing money at names to play in the NPC.
Why do Southampton fans keep on with this ''we are the 5th richest club in the country'' thing! The owners are rich - the club is only worth the value of the players, the ground, etc - after all the loans are paid off. The team is only worth it's position in the league - 2nd in league 1
Anonymous - I agree that Saints are not cash strapped, but, to talk about being the 5th richest club in the country is a very big boast. As for West Ham ... we will have to see if money = success. just look at what Portsmouth did with no money, half a team and an old ground!
Neither the poster nor @Hammersfan know what they are talking about...
To all you Saints fans, QPR are owned by very rich guys but they are trying to stay in the Prem on the cheap.
Correct, quite what that has to do with Southampton I don’t know.
Sullivan and Gold are not hard up but they don't like parting with their money.
Sullivan and Gold are pumping their own money into the club to help service West Ham’s massive debts. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/8468159.stm.
The guy who owns Bristol City is not short of a bob or two but I don't see him splashing the cash.
Again, what the hell has this got to do with Southampton?
When you start spending big on players fair enough; until then, the club is not the same thing as the owners.
What has spending big on players got to do with the finances either within the club or of its owners? I refer you to our friends down the M27. They spent massive on players with money they didn’t have (either in the club or with its owners). We are investing in players but, more importantly, are investing in development. ‘Spending big’, as you say, does not necessarily mean spunking £50m on (Torres) an overpriced, overrated striker who doesn’t score. You should take note of the investment in Southampton’s academy and training facilities.
Norwich have not 'spent big' in the last two to three years yet managed back-to-back promotions. Why? Good management, good coaching, shrewd transfers.
Moreover, you intend to sound intelligent by using a semicolon, only you’ve used it incorrectly. The clause is a continuation of the previous thought therefore a comma would suffice.
I'm not a fan of LBM..but..I agree that this season, and at this level, he may actually be of some use to us for a change..however..if someone is REALLY prepared to pay us for him, and his wages are as high as some people claim, then I'm sure we can cope without him.
I can't imagine Barrera's on much more than (or even as much as) Boa..so if one of them has to leave then I know who I'd be ushering out the door. That is providing you can persuade Barrera to stay of course? but then there's no guarantee he'll ever shine like he does for El Tri anyway.
Either way it's addios LBM for me.
Hammersfan - I like the way you lured the saints into your evil lair - You truly are the master! Is that the witch in you perhaps? lol
Sorry Chris, either that semicolon is needed or the sentence requires the word "but". I am not "trying to sound clever", I use semicolons as a matter of course. If you were REALLY clever, you would understand that there are no absolute hard and fast rules with grammar. Check out Dickens, he breaks rules regularly.
I am surprised you do not understand the parallels: all I am saying is that rich owners do not always equate to rich clubs. By the way, when your Academy has produced as many England players as ours, start boasting!
LOL Dave, they certainly bite! We could have some banter with the Holy Boys over the course of the season! I see that Terry Paine is returning to the club. He will be tearing up that wing again, banging over crosses looking for the head of Ron Davies!
We aren't highlighting saints' financial position to boast, but to highlight that the OP got it wrong and should check his facts before saying something like that.
Mitel and Eccleston do things on the cheap, then they sell you for maximum profit. Which is a shame because Mitel could buy the league by M.City. Our position is one very different i believe...and for many a year we were well above qpr and west ham in top flight football..and if we get promoted this season, it'll be like pheonix from the flames.. COYS!
So basically, whether spending or not, neither set of fans want him?
Lieber Group cash strapped? billions in the bank, and unlike mitel and co. were clearly prepared to spend it!! Like Phoenix from the flames were going up!
We work as a collective do we? I tell you what, I was down in Southampton recently and the place was looking a dump. If your owners are so rich they should cough up some money for the council workers, then there wouldn't be sacks of uncollected refuse all over the city. Mind you, Boa wouldn't want that to change, rubbish doesn't vote to be taken away to the tip!
Well yes hammersfan you did have bobby moore. No greater player came out of any club if you ask me. As for the others.. nah lets not really go there - there isnt much to shout about in the scheme of things. And remember, Sheringham was a better striker than anyone youv'e had up front, and he played for that team from Bermondsey? you know the one..
And now were comparing east london to soton? Hammersfan your losing the plot fella. Get yourself down to cold blow Lane and watch a real team from SE london ;-*
Yeah, let's not hark on about Hurst, Peters, Brooking, Rio and Lampard, not to mention Carrick, Cole and Johnson. How many England caps between that bunch?
Hold on, hold on. I believe our friends from the south coast - they are cash rich. £10m for Boa please.
Now Saints have signed De Ridder I cannot see us buy Boa Morte.
does batman know?
I am looking forward to going to West Ham this season. It will be like playing Bolton without Kevin Davis. Also it will be nice to get to before they start playing on an Athletic track and all the atmosphere is sucked out. My advice to those that will be inevitably disappointed is to go round the corner to Orient for a genuine football fix.
Lucky ol' Saints having all these people protecting their honour Pity no-one in the shithole bothers to go to matches and it is a shithole I've lived in the place long enough to know I can also understand their bond with the pikeys in bermonsey birds of a feather and all that
Strike breaking scum from the docks to wapping theres always a scum blackleg to steal a job
Takes a pikey to know one I say. Your probably inbred so your very clued up on these places. Get back to your caravan with yuh dargs!!
