O'Brien is clearly BFS's No.1 choice at right back. If he needs to replace O'Brien during a game then Tomkins can go there. Do NOT want to see Reid in ANY position in our defence

Why do we need an alternative at this moment in time? O'Brien is fit. Do you expect us to go into the season with 3 RB's? What team has 3 specialist right backs? That would be crazy, Spence would never get a game!!
Faubert is out for about a week, aslong as O'Brien doesn't get a freak injury before then, we're fine. Tomkins can cover, he has played well there before.
Hmmm. First of all, Faubert is out for just 10 days providing the medics have got it right, it may be longer. Secondly, O'Brien does not have a good record with injuries. Thirdly, Faye is only just coming back from injury and is 33. Fourthly, we have not retained JL Samuel after his trial so have NO experienced cover at left back. Now THAT overall is a frightening situation. Never mind injuries, this is a rough and tumble division and players will pick up yellow cards so you have to factor in suspensions. We have struggled for two seasons because of poor full back cover and the situation is no better going in to this season. Ilunga is injury prone. O'Brien is injury prone. Faye has picked up an injury PRE SEASON. Faubert is Faubert. Reid looked rank last season. How long before Tomkins is the only defender in the team?

Now that was pretty special!) Spence on the other hand IS and should be prefered cover for O'brien, otherwise what was the point in giving him a new contract? We are in the championship now, Tomkins and Reid can both play RB if they were needed at this level.
