Man City in for Upson, Liverpool lining up Cole

Both rumours make sense to me. City are desperate to strengthen their back four having invested half a Euro Lottery win very unwisely in Kryton Lescott and Liverpool need somebody, anybody, to play up front for them.

Should we part with either or both, that will sign our death warrant as a Premiership club. Can we trust C&B Holdings and your friend and mine, Mr Duxbury, to turn down any offers above £10m? Of course we can't!

In the original Batman movie, Scotty Duxbury, rigged out as the Joker asks, "You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?" Says it all really!

Well I for one would be more than happy to see a West Ham team play without Cole.

"There must be some way out of here"
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion here
I can't get no relief

Businessmen they drink my wine
Ploughmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know that any of it is worth

No reason to get excited
The thief, he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke

But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late"
Bob Dylan

Now I have no idea as to whether there is any substance behind these rumours but I would have thought that were players to be sold in January that this would be a decision made by C&B Holdings.

I think it’s Andrew Bernhardt rather than Duxbury that you need to keep a watchful eye on,

Yes, he doesn't seem to like me much does he? Quite a rant. Which orgster is he really? Is that Irons Germany masking his identity because Orange Boy is on his case and threatening to pass his details and Nazi post to the German authorities? Possibly. Meanwhile our dear old friend Bill thinks he is being clever by posting as Heiros and now returning for a guest "I don't get many opportunities to post" one off appearance as WHTID. It seems ironsfan, who I suspect is Orange Boy, is on to him from his Ying and Yang comment on the dave post. How did he know, unless he read my warning on here? I see grumpy is pleading to the other dwarfs for sympathy and protection! How sad is that? There will be a letter in the post to Nev! They are being nasty to me! Help! Hilarious to track and all the more fun because I am posting and nobody has the foggiest who I am. Sheppey Gary would blow a gasket if he really knew! ; }

It's fun and easy to expect the worst.

But if it is true that relegation costs 50+ million quid, why would our hardened businessmen opt for 10-20 million knowing it'd lose them 50? At some point asset stripping is a money loser. Selling our one proven goal scorer makes no business sense.

Hammersfan said...

Asset stripping is only a loser if the club continues to exist!

Also asset stripping works if you sell the players for £50m and then the club for £50m. That's a darn site better than accepting the £50m presently on offer!

Selling Upson for 10mill+ would be great business in Jan provided:
a. Gabiddon is fit and 150% healthy
b. 1/2 the money goes to a replacement. Id trust an experienced champ defender over a serie A prospect. Steven Taylor, J deMerit, Wheater, or Abdulaye Meite could do the simple stuff well enough.

Every other transfer would be a disaster.

Think you and others are under rating Upson's contribution. look how much we have missed Collins.

hammalot said...

2 reasons Upson is expendable.

1. Business-wise: Upson is 30 with 1 year left on his deal. Its going to be his last (first?) crack at a World Cup and Im sure some club would sign him to get their number of England internationals up. Only time to take advantage of all this.

2. On the pitch: Obviously a very experienced cultured ball-playing defender who we wont replace 100%. However Tomkins is of a similar mold. What weve missed from Collins is different in my opinion. He was a tall lad who just got stuck in and really put his head on the line for us. If you look at our whole backline noone really jumps out as 'brave' anymore.

Hammersfan said...

You must be joking. Tomkins? I'd rather have Breen based on the lad's recent performances! Undercooked!

Sheppey Gary = something unpleasant that crawled out from under a stone.

I can't believe that the moderator has allowed those 'replies' to stand.

And they wonder why people stop posting on the Org?????

0747 to continue something unpleasant that crawled out from under a stone = racist

Does the ORG = WHF.ORG?

Hammersfan said...

Yes, it is. I can't believe Sheppey Gary is really Billy Boy. He isn't a foul mouthed yob. Intensely introspective and vulnerable yes, but that coarse? No. Irons Germany more like. Another friend of Grumpy!

The old barrow boy is Gary, bet that suprises you?

Hammersfan said...

LOL No it is not! Honestly, you do try to stir things dont you? The old barrow boy has far more wit than you and the whole of the Isle of Sheppey put together. Mind you, anybody with a Grade 5 CSE in Art would have more wit than you and the whole of the Isle of Sheppey put together!
