Tottenham Should Be Our Model

Remember the mess the Cockyfools were in last season until 'Arry turned up and turned around their season? Well, take a look at the table and it shows us just eight points behind Liverpool and only nine points off a Champions League place. I'm not suggesting for one moment that we are in the running for a top four spot, but I am saying that suddenly all the doom and gloom can be put into perspective. Tottenham's start last season was worse than ours this, and they only narrowly missed out on European qualification. A top ten finish, therefore, is not yet beyond us.

Realistically, we have to set our sights now on overhauling the likes of Bolton, Stoke, Burnley, Birmingham, Fulham and Wigan. Being intoxicated on the Spirit of the Apocalypse, it is suddenly sobering to think that Wigan are only 3 points ahead of us, and our next opponents, Everton, would be overhauled should we win at the weekend. Victory then would have everybody saying, "Crisis, what crisis?"

The injury to Cole is a huge blow, but it is not the utter disaster that it threatened to be just a fortnight ago. We now know that both General Franco and Hines 69 can not only play, but score in the Premiership too. Collison and Behrami in harness together improve us massively and Parker showed how important he now is with a commanding performance last night. Strangely, the defence is now the worry but Da Costa looked surprisingly good last night so perhaps we have salvaged something from the Savio mess after all!

So, it is on and upwards, unless of course Everton and Lucas Neill give us a bloody nose and yet another reality check! Roll up, roll up for the great West Ham United Roller Coaster Ride!

In reality the likes of Bolton, Stoke, Burnley, Birmingham, Fulham and Wigan are more how you should see your own club instead of pretending you are on a similar level to clubs such as Tottenham, City, Villa and Everton.
To be in that cluster of clubs you need to have actually won the title on a few occasions as well as won a few more FA Cups and maybe anothewr European trophy or two.

When did any of those clubs last reach an FA Cup final? West Ham are not in the Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea or Man City bracket, but nor are Tottenham, Everton or Villa. Tottenham have the money, they just don't have the bottle! (Unless Ledley is necking it!)

Using Spurs as as some kind of comparison is to be honest completely irrelevant, West Ham might well improve as the season goes on, but I would very much doubt that they will be getting anywhere near to the top Six anytime soon.

Here is the difference Spurs had an under performing squad of players last season, that was worth worth well over £200m, West Ham on the other hand currently have a squad that in reality no way compares to Tottenham's in value or quality, so your comparison is meaningless in comparing the Two clubs poor starts to the season.

Keep dreaming you will never reach the level that spurs are at even now, and we are about to knock down our ground{which is 100 times better than yours} to build a brand spanking new one, also build brand new training facilities, and are financially stable which you are most certainly not, plus your fan base is tiny compared to ours, wake up and smell the coffee!!!

You have to wonder if Tottenham fans can read! The article is about how we can hit mid table, not build a new ground, challenge the top 4 etcetera. Planks!

as far as im concerned a strong west ham side in the premier helps knock out other teams the manc,s etc and causing upset on a wed nighthome playing man u etc.....

so in turn the EPL top of the table gets interesting....the rivalry of the derby games are important in a season in london.....makes for a buzz etc...the modern game seems to have lost some of its characters in the game....jimmy greaves played at west ham and on his return to white hart lane was smiling and enjoying the day....something missing in the media led pressures and behaviour today.....

agree Bill, rivalry is great, spite is unnecessary.

They're not a very bright bunch some of these Spurs fans are they. I guess without us they'd have no one to build their superiority complexes around. Must be hurt them to know they'll never be a top four side. In their defence these ones are probably all under 15.

There are a few proper fans out there though, Spurs Bill being a fine example of one.

Just watched Everton on five HF in the Europa. Yes, Benfica are a class act but we should do Everton over, seriously.

Prediction: Distin to give away a penalty. Get Hines around him as he's well clumsy.

Good article, unfortunately it's becoming easier to slag other teams off on blogs, I am and have been Spurs all my life and aside from the two days we play West Ham where we are of course fierce rivals, I like to see you do well, not so well you finish above us though. I really like Zola and hope you stick with him. I don't think you will have too many problems in finishing at least half way. Let's face it both clubs in fact all clubs have their good share of moronic fans who just want an argument.

West Ham and Tottenham are not too far apart and different in todays game, we both have a tradition of playing the game the right way. You spanners have suffered through the foreign invasion of football owners into the English game, and it will take you some time to reach Spurs` level, But, under the right guidance and financial stability you will in the near future be competing with the likes of Spurs, Villa, Citeh etc etc for a european place season in and out.

We both have the needle (more so on your side) with each other, our game and PL need teams like us, it`s exciting, passionate and damn right fast and furious.

Our teams will be the saviours of our beloved game in this country, we just need to dislodge the plastics from the top, for the whole league to open up.

So best of luck with your financial problem and your future. Unless it has a negative on us.

COYS!
