Bloody hell, the fans are voting with their feet! Why didn't we sell out against Bolton? Because it was Bolton you twat, posters replied. Why didn't we sell out against Oxford? It was a midweek game and we couldn't get home for work the next day apparently. For Bolton, it was kids for a quid; against Oxford a Dad and son could get in for a combined £15. Great deals, the pair, but not tempting enough to fill the Boleyn.
But this weekend it is Chelsea. Top of the table, League Champions, captained by figure of hate John Terry, featuring Upton Park cult hero Yossi and the mighty Drogba, amongst others; so tickets are selling like hot cakes surely?
Well apparently not. Incredibly, for just the second home game of the new Premiership season, against star studded London rivals Chelsea, there are still 1500 tickets available in the "home end" for the match. Interesting. They will be giving free gifts to support the sale of tickets next: free Scott Parker poster; money off voucher for Avram's favourite massage parlour; or a McBenni burger at half time.
So why are we planning to move to the Olympic Stadium then? The real estate value of a redeveloped Boleyn perhaps? Perish the thought! Now THAT is a tasty free gift that came with the purchase of the club for Sullivan and Gold!

Pop concerts sell out, Lords was sold out when I was there for the Pakistan game, all the pubs and clubs are heaving where I live, cars are selling, take-aways are doing a roaring trade...

So now you tell me if every single premiership football team has had a rise in attendances this season. I won't make it easy for you by linking you to the report that shows that football attendances have fallen due to price increases and the recession. Instead I'll let you tell me about other sports that cost far less then it does to watch a football game and happen now and then instead of up to twice a week like football.
Well actually I made reference to Lords, and my ticket cost £60 - more than I pay to visit Upton Park. And to pop concerts. And drinking in pubs and clubs.
Are attendances falling? Very early in the season to reach that conclusion. Are gates down at Stamford Bridge, the Emirates and White Hart Lane? There's a waiting list for season tickets for White Hart Lane, we can't shift ours.
So, there won't be recessions after 2012 then? I ask again, why move to a 60,000 stadium when we can't fill Upton Park?
HF you div. ive got a mate who supports man utd and he said that even they didn't sell out every home game last season. and they are the biggest supported club in the world. so stop talking crap as usual.
0112, you div, they did sell out their game against Chelsea and are not looking to move to a new ground with almost double the current capacity.
