Didn't take him long did it? Three games in, and Sullivan already has his theory on why we have had such a bad start to the season. It doesn't include the quality of the opposition, it is all down to a bunch of lazy foreign tossers who shouldn't be in the country anyway! Perhaps he hopes to represent the BNP for the constituency of Barking at the next election!
Well that is a slight misrepresentation of course. Sullivan reckons we lost the games because these not so jolly foreigners didn't expect to be at the club after the window closed, so couldn't be bothered to pitch up and perform.
It's an interesting theory but, if true, who is to blame for that? Who was it that said the entire squad was up for sale - with the exception of Super Scotty Par - ker of course? If the owner of the club says you are not wanted and are up for sale, why exactly would you run through brick walls for the club? It's a bit like expecting your wife to dress up like Lady Gaga and give you the best night of your life, thirty minutes after announcing to her that you want a divorce. It isn't going to happen is it?
So, if motivation is an issue, Sullivan only needs to look in the mirror to see why.
But does his theory stack up anyway? The team that played the first three games of the season included Parker, Noble, Green, Gabbidon, Upson, Dyer and Cole, none of whom were foreign the last time I checked. Tomkins also played at Villa of course. Well, he was selected to play anyway! That must be one of the most "British" teams selected in the Prem for years! Presumably, Boa wasn't expecting to be sold, having only just signed a new contract and, as our only left back, Ilunga surely wasn't anticipating leaving before the end of August either. So, we all know who to blame then, Faubert and Kovac!
We know that Sullivan talks more crap than sense but this outburst really does take the bog roll! Here's why we lost the first three games:
1) Avram selected a negative team to play Villla and conceded the initiative at kick off. Villa's opening goal was offside and followed a terrible error from Green. Villa were pumped because of the departure of O'Neill and Milner played a blinder as his goodbye to the Villa fans.
2) Against Bolton, Carlton missed a penalty and the whole team missed a stack of chances in the first 45 minutes. We should have been two goals to the good at half time. The absence of goalscorers in the team is a major problem. Parker and Noble as a midfield combination are a large part of the problem here. Upson then gave Bolton the lead and we were mugged from there. The team are so brittle that once the first crack appears, they crumble.
3) Barring a miracle, we were always going to lose at Man Utd but the decision to select Spector ensured that even the possibility of a miracle was ruled out. Had Spector been in the room, there's no way Lazarus would have come back from the dead. "Sorry JC, he's still flat lining, let's call it a day!" I suspect the window was also a factor. Never mind the "foreigners", Carlton and Parker were almost certainly wondering if they might be returning to Old Trafford with other teams later in the season!
What worries me most is the way that Sullivan seems to be writing off the next three games. He suggests the season starts with the home game against Fulham! Well don't you feel a mug if you've bought a ticket for the Chelsea and Tottenham games? According to Sullivan, we might as well not bother turning up! And as for that expensive trip to Stoke - well just give them the points and save on the hotel and travelling costs!
I suppose this could all be about Behrami given he is foreign, wanted to join Roma and didn't play in any of the games. Maybe Sullivan is suggesting his injury was a sham. If so, why not come out and say it?
I suggest Gold inserts a certain product into Sullivan to stop him talking out of the wrong orifice!

I don't get all this panicking about the start of the season. Granted, we've played 3 matches, have no points, and have a goal difference of -8. But there's been positives.
Barring the first 100 minutes, of course - those were quite horrible.
In at least half of the Bolton match, we played some of the best football I've seen from us in a few years. And more importantly - even though things didn't go our way in that match, the team played till the end. Last season, the team collapsed beneath the slightest pressure, but that doesn't seem to be the case this season.
Now let's just add some stability to the defence, and things will be all-right.
