A Smashing Window - Twelve Months Too Late!

Wow. And that one word probably says it all! Allardyce arrived, assessed and acted. Ilunga? Crap. Bring in McCartney. Barrera? Crap. Bring in Bentley. Stanislas? Crap. Bring in Taylor. Upson? Crap. Bring in Faye and give Reid his head. Faubert? Crap. Bring in O'Brien and Demel. Forwards? Crap. Bring in Carew and Baldock. Weak in the final quarter of a game? Bring in Papa Diop to add some metal. Lack of inspiration and pace in midfield? Bring in Lansbury.

And Parker? Not enough goals, far too few assists. So bring in Nolan.

We have kept Green, Tomkins, Noble, Collison and Cole. Full marks to Sullivan and Gold and all credit to Doctor Evil. This isn't just a squad suited to winning promotion to the Prem, this is a squad equipped to prosper in the top division. Sam Pot's biggest problem now is who, apart from Ilunga, to leave out!

So, here's the big question, why did we wait to go down before this action was taken? Maybe, just maybe, the Doomsday Davids wanted an excuse to shrink that wage bill!

give Reid his head?

agree, seems like it was a master plan.

More likely that they believed Grant would manage the club properly or they interfered too much.

Big Sam, it's his way or not at all.

I like that, its how it should be. Manager selecting transfer targets and managing all aspects of the club.

Going down and coming right back to the PL is the jackpot. They did not plan for West Ham to go down in order to cash in and reduce the wage bill. I don't they could plan and execute such an evil plan. But they knew that going down is not all bad. They had that experience from their days in Birmingham. It is however a high risk strategy. If it doesn't work then you may lose all!

I hope Sam can bring us back to the Premiership. I am sure he could have kept us up if he was to take over from Avram Grant a few games before the end and for sure in January.

So the question is, why did our guru owners not get Sam last year? Perhaps they are not so clever as they make themselves out to be. Perhaps they are more evil than we can all envisage. Either way, as true West Ham fans, all we want and care about is to get automatic promotion this year. I think Sam now has the resources to make that happen. Let's hope he does!

Ok is next stop Italy then Israel???

Thought we did pretty well the last week in the window. Would have preferred Barton over Diop but I can live with it as long as his swagger comes in handy. Maybe a couple spits here and there.

We were being linked with all sorts of players last year but none of them wanted to come because of Grant and who could blame them?! If Messi came Grant would play him in goal, but he would still see the positives!!! so I don't think SUGO can be blamed. Now that Allardyce is the gaffer everyone wants to come to West Ham!!! And I've just seen Lansbury play for England u21's - 2 goals and 2 assists. For the first time in years I'm struggling to fit everyone I want into my starting XI!!!

Sav you sure that it would be difficult to plan relegation All the undermining af the manager slating the players bringing Brown back to advise on how he did it and pocketed a small fortune
Quite simple really and when we go back up don't be surprised when those 2 fans sell the club to some dodgy businessmen with wads of cash and no reciepts

Only a small concern, does anyone have any idea on the loan contracts ?

Have we signed with "first option" or a fee agreed if we want to take em ?

Would love to know if anyone has any inside info on the deals

I read at the time of taking that;
Motenegro and Lansbury were both with "first option", but bentley is just a season loan with wages being paid by tottenham to sweeten the Parker deal. McCartney just a loan although im sure we could buy here if we fancied.

If relegation was a masterplan (and that is giving Gullivan's intelligence too much credit) i for one have no problem with that.

Relegation was the only way we could get rid of the high earners and do away with the overspending, underachieving culture that has been at our club since Egg's took charge.

A year in the Championship will do us good, and we will return a better and more motivated team. I will take that over another 5 years of PL relegation battles and poor performances any day.

You may be right Chunky, but I don't think the Dave-duo is capable of planning such a plot. In fact, if they did plan this, they would probably screw it up, by not managing to get us relegated!
