Tottenham will sack Redknapp before the end of October

How else can you explain the failure to invest in a team that was clearly struggling to hold on to the coat tails of the clubs above them last season? The noise from the 5-1 thrashing at home to Man City was drowned out by the drum rolls from the Emirates calling for the beheading of Wenger, but once the Gunners hysteria has died down, questions will be asked as to why, exactly, Tottenham have fallen so far behind the club that they edged out of the Champions League the season before last and why Levy and Redknapp have done so little to reverse it.

True Tottenham retained Modric and can hardly be expected to keep up with the spending of Man City, but even with Arsenal regressing, they are slipping behind Liverpool and maybe even Stoke City! The strangest deal of all, for me, was Bellamy returning to Liverpool rather than linking up with long time admirer Redknapp. Look at Tottenham's squad and they are desperately short of strikers. True they have Adebayor on loan but can he be relied upon to fight for the cause? Pavlyuchenko is another whose effort often appears less than 100%,  and he wants away in any case, whilst Defoe is a moody bastard as we know. And that's it as far as forwards with a squad number are concerned. Many Tottenham fans will be pleased to see the back of Crouch but they must be concerned at the lack of options.

Parker has been recruited but nobody else. Jenas has gone, so has Crouch and Palacious and Bentley and Hutton. It looks very much as if finance is taking precedence over on field fortunes. Never mind the Champions League, this squad looks more likely to finish in mid table to me.

So what is going on? Has Levy decided that Redknapp's days are numbered? Is he looking for an excuse to offload him, engineering a situation where a new manager has the funds to build his own squad? Levy clearly didn't fancy Parker and was nagged into buying him. If Scotty proves to be the dud I have predicted, that will count heavily against 'Arry too. If he can't even wheeler deal, what good is he?

Who will they replace him with? Well Avram is Jewish so...

Utterly stupid article, clearly you are lacking some brain cells or you know nothing about football and knothing about business.

Come back at the end of October and see who is right. I assume you support Spurs. In which case, are you really happy at the way Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City have strengthened whilst you have stood still?

Dos Santos is unhappy. Modric is unhappy. Bale will be unhappy if you settle into mid table. It looks to me as if the build costs of the new stadium are already eating into the transfer budget! Why was Modric retained? Because levy expects to get more for him in January perhaps!

What a shame you couldn't get a brand new stadium on the cheap eh?

Sumpo said...

Yet another piece of absolute drivel as per usual from our bitter and twisted Hammer friend.

Firstly you completely fail to take into account the fact that Spurs have had virtually all of their midfield players either out injured or carrying injuries, Spurs never had a fit holding midfield player available v Man City, so it was hardly surprising that they got soundly beaten.

As for you're comments about Stoke City, that is truly an embarrassing comment even for you, truly idiotic in fact.

As for the lack of spending and selling the likes of Palacios, Crouch, Hutton etc, the simple facts are that Spurs had a massive squad of players, far more than the 25 allowed, so that was just a case of trimming a bloated squad.

As for the lack of investment, that is solely down to our new stadium, Spurs will soon be announcing that they are going to commence building their NDP at WHL, so Levy is hording money at the moment to keep stadium debt down to a manageable level.

Spurs will soon announce record annual turnover of over £170m, as well as record profits, £40m CL money, £15m saved on wages in this window, £25m or so profit on player trading this window, plus unused SKY TV money, Spurs are sitting on a fortune.

As for you're rubbish of a mid table finish after 2 games, I would suggest that you look at the players in our squad before spouting such ill informed drivel, Oh and you missed VDV out of our forward players, never mind he was only our top scorer last season.

Hammersfan said...

Good point about VDV Sumpo, you should contact your OS because they list him as a midfield player! And he doesn't want to hang around any longer than he has to, does he?

I make the same point about stadium costs. So you are happy with that are you? "Never mind the points total my boy, look at the money we have in the bank!" You are conforming to a stereotype aren't you?

Shelf said...

I think you could be right.
I think Levy is assuming Arry will take the England job come next summer as is therefore not going to invest more money pending a new manager arriving for 2012/13.
I know Arry said he wouldn't take the England job but can't see him turning it down when offered.

Sumpo said...

"What a shame you couldn't get a brand new stadium on the cheap eh?"

This kind of comment sums you up perfectly BITTER AND TWISTED, as most little Hammers are about Spurs.

Virtually every Spurs fan was and is against Spurs getting the OS, if you're idea of watching football is having to watch from 100 metres away is OK, then good luck to you with that.

You mugs are only getting 25,000 fans turn up at Upton Park as it is, but you need a 60,000 stadium LOL, do me a favour mate, you are an embarrassment to all decent West Ham fans.

Hammersfan said...

Why the bitterness Sumpo? I didn't want us to get the OS anymore than you wanted Spurs to move into Newham. But look what has happened to Arsenal since they moved to the Emirates. The trophies dry up whilst you pay for a brand new stadium. And it's not as if you lot have had a steady stream of trophies in recent years anyway!

But he is not a midfield player is he and you know it, or are you really that clueless, he plays off of our main striker, hence the fact that when VDV plays Spurs only play with 1 (ONE) striker.

As for the lack of investment, it is only a short term thing, Spurs are getting a war chest together to begin the building of the NDP.

The plain simple facts are that it is essential that Spurs borrow as little as possible, to keep debt levels as low as they can, so it will be "short term pain for long term gain" so yes it is worth it, Spurs still have an excellent squad of players in place, hence there is no desperate need for big spending at the moment.

You're comments about VDV wanting to leave are again so very typical of you, based on nothing at all other than wishful thinkng.

I'm a yid and i know full well something isn't right between levy & arry , I don't like the fact that arry always challenges his chairmen in public, in my opinion he's nothing more than an over rated showman who loves nothing more than to talk to sky sports reporters, he never ever takes the blame for his bad tactics its all someone else fault , he said on national tv he would want love to manager England which i hope happens sooner rather than later cos the block is a clown , he bought crouch in & palacios now they are at stoke 2 years later, the fella is out of his depth at spurs, ok perfect for bournmouth fc..but he aint not world class manager like he thinks he is, the bloke is a charlie , levy will get shot of him soon..i hope so before he turns us into westham

Affa Chan said...

As a spurs fan it is frustrated to be honest, Levy do not risk in buying quality players with world class price while Harry is a bargain hunter, the combination of these two would not get us world class players.

In your article, you said it's the end of Harry's job because of this, I can only half agree, the poor transfer activity is also responsible by Levy, the timing and perpetration on selling Berbatov was poorly done, how for the next 2 years there has been no replacement for his role.

When Harry turned down Suarez last January, it's shocking that he thought we were in position to not take in a new striker and back out because of the prices, if we had risked it, we might had finished 4th.

Although we can blame a lot of bad things on Harry, such as he plays favorite, he buy old players and players he has handled before, as well as speaks a bit too much on the media, he has given us the highest position Spurs has ever gotten.

However he is 64, the overwhelming competition from the likes of Man City and Liverpool, how they filed their team totally wipe off the efficiency of Harry transfer style.

No that is right 2008 was the last time that Spurs won a trophy, years ago wasn't it, Arsenal haven't won a trophy since 2005, then we come to the mighty West Ham United, 1980 ffs 31 long barren years ago LOL, do carry on taking the piss though wont you mate.

Hammersfan said...

Sumpo, it seems I am striking a chord with some Spurs supporters. Are they all idiots and jealous too, or have you got it wrong perhaps?

Anonymous said...

I hate to say it, apart from the drivel you printed about the OS, but I think you're right about Levy/Arry.

It might be that Levy thinks Arry is off, but it just looks to me like no. 1 priority is making money, you don't need to win anything to do that, for a while anyway; it wont be too long before new supporters start drying up.

As for the OS, WHU will make the biggest mistake of their existence moving there, it's going to seem like a morturary.

Hammersfan said...

I haven't claimed West Ham have been well run have I Sumpo? I am more than happy to admit that we have been appallingly run and that our barren spell is depressing. But we don't consider ourselves a "big club" and you lot do! It may be that your "short term" spell of underachievement will turn into a longer term problem. How many fans will choose the cheap as chips OS to an overpriced WHL? If we start playing to 60,000 gates, you may find yourself slipping behind us! Well, we can dream!

Hammersfan said...

LOL 1802, Upton Park has been like a mortuary for two years now so what will change? Keep an eye on Parker, the embalming fluid will ooze out of his joints as the season grinds on. You're bought a dud there, mark my words.

the headmaster said...

I think that rumours of Tottenham's demise may be somewhat premature. I also think it would take a further half a dozen consecutive defeats before Levy would even contemplate sacking Hazza.
That said, I am certainly enjoying the start to this season more than any other for a very long time indeed!

Sumpo said...

"Sumpo, it seems I am striking a chord with some Spurs supporters. Are they all idiots and jealous too, or have you got it wrong perhaps?"

Of course I would love Spurs to carry spending money like they did until recently, but for the long term good of the club Daniel Levy is doing the right thing, he is investing in the NDP which will enable Spurs to compete for decades to come, so no I am not wrong at all.

Getting a new stadium built is much more important to Tottenham's long term future, than buying £50m worth of players right now.

Hammersfan said...

I think I should have stayed in Egypt mate! I was listening to the Man Utd v Arsenal game live on the World Service, feeding the scores to the rest of the ship as the goals crashed in. It was only half way through the second half that I learnt that we had won 4-1 at Forest and Spurs had crashed 1-5 at home to Man City. I drunk the bar dry on the spot!

I personally rekon this is alot of rubbish. However, I do believe that something is wrong between Levy and Redknapp. I believe the money wasn't there for cahill untill the crouch and palacious deals went through which didnt happen till last minute so no time to fund the cahill deal or samba one.
I do believe tho that Redknapp will leave at the end of the year, if he lasts, for the England job and i personally would love DAVID MOYES OR MARTIN O'NEIL as the next Spurs Manager

Hammersfan said...

Sumpo, that's what Arsenal fans were saying but ask them now, would you rather have three more Premiership titles and a Champions League trophy and still be at Highbury and I reckon I know what their answer would be!

where have you been the last few days with all our news you now come back and talk crap about another team which rock were you under when the window closed

MrTinkles said...

"why, exactly, Tottenham have fallen so far behind the club that they edged out of the Champions League the season before last"
Well I suppose a Hammer’s fan would be an expert on falling behind…but, that aside...
Are you actually serious? Everyone (apart from perhaps United) have fallen behind City...and yes I include Chelsea and Arsenal. The reason? An obscenely rich sheik who has sadly proved that thrown money about like confetti can eventually buy success!!! I'm not sure that United are any stronger (Young will be good but Jones is still untried and a bit of a gamble)...Liverpool...debatable, the signing of Bellamy is a real gamble and he’s certainly a much lesser player than he was when he first left Liverpool. As to Spurs...Adebayor is a fantastic forward who can tear apart any defence in the league...Parker is exactly what they needed. The failure to get Cahill might have disappointed Redknapp and many fans but the asking price was quite stupid...£18mill for a player with just one year on his contract and who, again is not yet proven. Manchester City have for several seasons been able to pay silly money and just hope for the best but even Chelsea dont do that these days. As Sumpo said, Spurs have such a strong squad that they had to reduce...A possible team for the next match might be Freidal, Walker, Dawson, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto, Bale, Modric, Parker,Van der Vart, lennon, Adebayor...all internationals (Walker has yet to play for the full squad) and that still leaves Huddleston, Sandro, Kranjcar, Defoe, Pienaar, Pavlyuchenko...and that's just the ones that come to mind immediately...Modric unhappy? He'll settle down...Dos Santos unhappy? So what? He’ll be lucky to feature this year...Bale? - You're mates then???
Yes Spurs were well beaten by both Manchester teams...but I'll make a prediction of my own, they will be head and shoulders above everyone else this year and Spurs wont be the first to get turned over by either or both of them.
As for the stadium...good luck with rattling around in that monstrosity with your Championship opponents...

spursfan said...

What's getting about your OS comments is that I don't think any Spurs fans wanted to move there, but you seem to think we're jealous.

No, it's not jealousy, it's genuine concern, it's really not going to work for you.

See, we really care about you.

I'm not over the moon about Parker, but I thought you lot rated him, is that not the case?

:-) said...

Get over your pathetic hatred of Spurs. We don't even care about your crap club. Go play with millwall or orient.

Let's talk something contructive instead of this complete drivel; how does theo walcott continue to get picked for England??

Now that fella is the real dud just like capello.

Walcott clearly is not a footballer, plays crap week in week out yet constantly gets the shirt for England.

And we have Milner and Johnson on the bench.

FFS!

Oh and stop citing arsenal and their lack of success since the stadium move as evidence spurs will suffer on the pitch once we move to the new WHL.

The emirates is ONE example and there is nothing to suggest what will happen to them will happen to Spurs. In fact the consenus is arsenal have loads of money but wenger refuses to spend it. They get a couple of mill every home game so it isn't an accident waiting to happen.

Anyway you better hope your wrong cos your getting a new stadium soon, so based on your science west ham can look forward to non league footy a few years after moving into Stratford.

walcott has score more goals then your team put together so far this season and maybe you should worry about your own clubs demise you stupid cnut

You are a Hammers fan writing a piece of Spurs, does that even make sense? Not only doe sit not make sense, but you have gone out of your way to back up your article. Stop and look at this from the view of a Spurs fan.

Spurs have bolstered their side, and purge themselves of players who won't play, or just don't contribute.

Palacios - replaced by Scott Parker
Crouch - replaced by Adebayor
Keane - wasn't not playing and his salary was large.
Hutton - behind Corluka, Walker AND Kaboul
Jenas - behind Huddlestone, Modric, Sandro, Parker, Livermore, and Kranjcar
Bentley - no comment

They added quality in depth. Granted Dos Santos is still at the club, but for the most part they were able to remove dead weight and keep their quality players. There will be a drastic improvement from the team, but we'll see a huge difference with Parker in the midfield alongside Modric, and an even further jump when Sandro comes back from his injury.

As for the Spammers, well you are in a lower division.

That's it. Have a wondiferous weekend.

EN, did you see Parker's booking against Bulgaria? Get used to that sort of tackle, just outside your own box if he is the anchor. He will cost you points, not win you points!

Affa Chan said...

To be honest, many people think ill of Parker, I am a spurs fan and I am not happy enough with the summer transfer just gone, but I personally think Parker might be just want we need in the midfield.

He bring the ball froward and has a defensive mind, he can work with Modric and Sandro very well.

Also, he was an ex hammer, he worked hard for the club and he left the club on good terms (at least his head was in the right place), don't just step him down because he left.

It makes me laugh the way people react to the comments on this site. It's just a piece of fun taking the piss as we cockneys love to do. It's not serious it's just fun, so why don't you spuds try to show some wit and respond in a similar vein?

dont see where you are coming from with this article....

spurs had an embarrassment of overpaid players not playing last year....we had a host of U21's who didnt need a squad place in the 25....this year we have purged the non playing ones to free up spaces for the aforementioned U21's who are now over 21....

modric is unhappy? 4 questions yeah?and?so?what? ..he will either bite down and play properly or be sold for 40 million in january (nice problem to have i think)

dos santos is unhappy? yep every morning at 3 oclock when the clubs turf out the punters .. again so what? We should be preaching to him about how a players career can go of the rails using Bentley as an example "knuckle down son or you could end up playing at...." (oh hang on its west ham innit)

Bale is unhappy? why? did he have kieron dyer in his fantasy team?

as for harry going...he either will or wont....wont make a massive difference...we will egt somebody else in and be up and around 4/5 or 6th.

Man U and Man C are the benchmark and we have seen we aint at that level, so thats probably 1st and 2nd we cant achieve....Its not a biggie and wont give me an ulcer..

Gobsmacked we did business with the Spuds. It should never happen again.

I suppose posting rubbish is one way of getting hits for your blog. Well done on that count.

The article rings true - that Levy is preparing for Harry's depature - but it's hard to get that message when it's hidden under envy.

West Ham are in the Championship, all things going to plan, they should be Premiership next season. But they're not in the same league as Tottenham and never have been.

Adebayor, Parker, Friedel and a few flair-filled youngsters = a good transfer window.

We can't compete with the 2 Manchester clubs, nor Chelsea simply because they are backed by billionaires flashing the cash, paying OTT wages. We spend money, yes, but we have a solid wage system; one of the main reasons that we run at a profit.

That 4th place is wide open. Arsenal are weakened (although still relatively strong), and Liverpool have paid a lot of money for a lot of average British players.

Poor little Hammers think they're Cockneys. Cockneys are born within the sound of St. Mary-Le-Bow in Cheapside. There aren't any cockneys but, if there were, the Gunners are probably closer.

Spurs had a quiet -- but relatively effective -- window (in the SHORT-TERM). It's not the stadium that curtailed their spending but Redcrapp's profligate spending and lack of trading acumen since he joined the club. He's overpaid for Crouch, Keane, Defoe, Bassong and Palacios while given away others like KPB or reduced their price by publicly belittling them (Bent). The man's a self-serving tw@t (ex-'Ammer, ain't he guv?) and Lecy won't spend while he's in charge.

Will he be fired in October?
I don't think Levy is relying on the FA to save the day by hiring the pr@ck -- they won't despite his fawning press -- and if Spurs under-achieve, he'll be gone by Xmas so that the new man can have a say in the January window.

This post will shock you more than the Hammer fan. Firstly Levey made a commendable stand against this new bread of Footballer called medal chasing greedy bastards funded by us mugs driving cars. Secondly don't be fooled by Utd and City wins because there will be more pain before we finaly get some points and January will be the only way we will survive a relegation battle when we sell Modric and Stoke will finish 6th and these players will help Woodgate Palacios Crouch. Meanwhile Spurs will be 10th Harry will be sacked and replaced by Beckham and Gary Neville and Davspurs will fail in his attempt to stop Utd City Liverpool playing in 6th gear Toure and Paddy tempo. this is fiction or the truth ?

This is funny reading all the hostility here. Spurs are Premier le am enjoying football so much more this year than any of my spurs supporting mates. We have regrouped re organised and now have a squad and manager that would do well in the prem. As for the OS I would say that all the pictures are taken with a fish eye lens and so looks worse and as one that has been there I can say the sightlines are better than Cardiff and Wembley and I have frequented both venues. As for not selling it out, I dont agree with that. We are only seeing low numbers at upton park in the last 2 years as a protest but given the improvement in the team, the effort, the manager we will see that packed. I for one am on the stratford train line and my journey will be a million times easier and taking a 5 yea old with me as often as I do this will mean we wil both be getting season tickets when we ge there and I know for a fact most of my family and friends are planning to do the same. HF how about talking about our great start rather than trying to take the P*ss out of a spurs side who have won more than us, who are still in the Prem and still have a great squad. You set your self up for this everytime. Oh and PS you re right about Parker tho. Great bit of business for us.
