Clough Returns To Haunt Leeds
Brian will be raising a glass of his favourite tipple as we speak, and Revie will be turning in his grave. The Leeds charge was halted today and the bubble of optimism well and truly burst. Even before the other games are played, Leeds have slipped down the table and the gap between the once mighty Whites and the teams at the top will certainly have increased before the end of the afternoon.
Today's game shows what a mountain Leeds have to climb if they are to make it to the promised land of the Prem this season. Even on the back of three straight wins - and excellent wins at that - one reverse sees them slip into the bottom half of the table. Cardiff's win at Blackburn, meanwhile, means that they are all but out of reach already.
Warnock will no doubt come out and say his players gave their all and that he cannot fault them for effort. The trouble is, huff and puff alone will not secure promotion. You need a little, just a little, class.
Still Green scored against his old team so its not all bad news!
