Name Of Leeds United Must Not Be Slurred Because Of "Superfan"
Just as I stood out against those who tried to slur the name of Leeds United based on the fact that Jimmy Savile was born in the City, so any temptation to knock the club because of the actions of one paedophile "superfan" must be resisted. Fawcett is a disgusting wretch who, in no way, symbolises the average Leeds fan.
It is a crying shame, however, that Leeds fans chose to taunt Dave Jones, against whom charges were dropped, even whilst Fawcett was a "character" admired by fans of the club. It is also deeply regrettable that those same Leeds fans sang the name of Savile at the Sheffield Wednesday game. Maybe those idiots might now reflect on how disgustingly inappropriate their actions were.
Just as true West Ham fans are revolted by the racist morons who taunted Spurs fans with hissing at White Hart Lane, so all true Leeds fans must shudder at the moronic and disgusting actions of a hard core element within their fan base. The sooner these moronic yobs are driven out of the game - which ever club they support - the better.
As for Fawcett, I hope he now learns what it is like to be raped. He deserves everything he gets in my book.
One final thought. Why on earth has the Yorkshire Post linked the club with Fawcett by alluding to his superfan title and carrying the picture at the top of this article? The fact that he supported Leeds and took the unfortunate girl to Leeds games is not really relevant is it? Odd decision that Mr Hay should explain.
