Tottenham Lucky Sunderland Didn't Buy 'Arry's Wife

Let's face it, had Bruce put in a bid, with the offer of an under the table kickback, I'm sure 'Arry would gladly have let his old lady move up north. God help Tottenham then when the penalty was awarded!

Instead, Bruce chose 'Arry's wife's understudy and the rest, as they say, is history! Had that penalty been tucked away, Sunderland would probably have gone on to claim all three points!

Bent for England? He missed a stack full of chances against us last week and can't even beat Gomes from the penalty spot! Come on Capello, check out 'Arry's wife! She may even sport a Brazilian!

Gomes should not have even been on the pitch to save the penalty. He denied a goalscoring opportunity and should have been sent off

And we were gonna buy the guy for how much? £16m was it?

I was praying he didn't come to us

Only because Curbishley didn't fancy 'Arry's wife!

I have seen the highlights on irish tv and it wasnt a pen. Bent was already fallin and kicked out at gomes 2 win a pen. Bent shud have been booked. U will see it on motd. Defoe was very lucky and i wudnt b surprised if the fa hit him wit a ban for da incident wit gordon.

It was a penalty, if Bent had continued on, Gomes would have been injured just as Gordon was.

I wish we had signed Bent when we were spending money. He may lack composure but he is a physical phenom who exhausts defenders. Him and Cole upfront would be a better strikeforce than Liverpool frankly.

I thought the only reason he didnt come was he didnt fancy working with Curbs again (typical).

I'm not sure. Had we spent £16m on Bent, I don't think Cole would be with us now. Remember, Turds didn't rate Cole, he referred to Pardew's signings that summer as substandard. From memory, those signings included Green and Cole! Add another £16m to our debt pile and that would have necessitated selling more of the present squad. Is Bent worth that? I think both Tottenham and Sunderland paid too much for him personally. A £16m striker would have bagged three against us at what became our Stadium of Fright in that nightmare second half. In fact he should have scored with that header inside the first 15 minutes of the game! So yes, strong, quick, mobile but I don't rate him that highly personally.

How can it be a penalty if a player is falling over already? If an everton forward does what bent did today how wud you react. Hope da hammers pull it back and beat them. COYS!
