Gollivan's Travails

Who’d be an owner eh? Fans up and down the country are fed up with corporate owners buying their clubs with borrowed money; wouldn’t it be great to have a wealthy fan for an owner who was prepared to put his own money into the club!................. But hang on; that’s what we’ve got isn’t it?

Gollivan have worked tirelessly to portray themselves as knights in shining armour astride a mighty charger, but other than the relief of escaping from the Icelandic meltdown the new owners seem to sit uncomfortably with much of the claret and blue army.

Surely it’s not disapproval of the manner in which their millions were made? After all, if a lifetime ban were handed down to anyone who had liberated one of Sullivan’s publications from the top shelf, or admired his partner’s “top shelf” adorned in one of Gold’s, “Ann Summers” flimsies, we’d be looking to relocate in a goldfish bowl rather than the Olympic bowl!

So why is there not universal rejoicing at the new owner’s arrival? Perhaps the answer lies in my plagiarized headline. Gulliver’s Travels? Well it’s a kids story isn’t it?................. The bit we all know about is, but the full story is a much darker tale of political allegory and the innate, or otherwise, evil nature of man. Are there others out there that have the same gut feeling as me that we are not getting the full story?

That should read "Gollivan's Travails" as in the effort of work, it wasn't a spelling mistake!

Count me in! I will be very pleasantly surprised if Gollivan have only the good of the club in mind. But of course, as ManU are finding out a club is nothing without its supporters and for that reason alone we will not know of Gollivan's true intentions until it is safe for them to make their move. In the meantime let's all hope they are the claret and blue knights that came to save West Ham from the dragon. Unless I am mistaken and they are the dragon disguised as knights. We will find out soon enough.

As you're generous enough to publish my articles, it would be churlish to complain about a small vowel movement!
