Is the transfer window stupid or is it just the clubs?

So the window has slammed shut and Keane is stranded at Tottenham and Babel at Liverpool. We have resorted to a journeyman right back to fill the void left by Neill's departure at the end of the season before last and we have no left back understudy. Liverpool have nobody to step in for Torres if he is injured and nobody other than Gerrard to play alongside him.

Why is everything left so damn late and why does the window close AFTER the season has started? The deal to sign Jacobsen still hinges on approval because the forms were faxed through too late. How long was the window open for? But we may still miss out because we ran out of time! The same is true of Van der Vaart's move to Spurs.

The situation is farcical. Squads should be sorted out before the season kicks off, not three games in! Either that or this artificial restraint of trade should be swept away completely. It amazes me that the Treaty of Rome prevents a limit being placed on foreign players playing in the Prem because of freedom of movement around Europe, and yet ALL players find themselves prisoners of their employers for 5 months because of this stupid transfer window nonsense.

The fans would much rather revert back to the old system and we are the lifeblood of the sport. Let's smash this transfer window nonsense once and for all!

I totally agree. Just why was a transfer window introduced? Is it to stop the richest teams buying their way to the top of the table because that doesn't work either.

Why is common sense rarely that common?

No. It's just the media and the blog writers!!! ;-)

HF - you've shown yourself up.

You left your old hit counter at the bottom of the page. Interestingly the new 'hit counter' is 1500 'hits' higher than the old, which is still ticking away.

You are not popular and nor is this site, doctored hitcounter or not. When will you finally realise that?

Yawn. This has already been explained. Site hosting original counter crashed. Took opportunity to introduce a counter which counts beyond one million on a new site. Entered last figure from old counter before the site crashed as the start figure for the new counter. The old site and counter recovered later that day. The differential is the number of visitors who visited whilst the old counter was "down". I'm keeping both running in case either site crashes. I can't reconcile the two because you cannot adjust a number once the counter is up and running.

You see, I am that popular! If I wasn't why would you care so much about the site? You lose again!

Yeah HammersFan, 631037 hits is nothing :-)

Well, I do have to say that website hit counters are very 1980's and do smack of a lack of self assurance on the owners front!

Oh please, as if this place has been read 600000 times! If that were the case there'd be a few more comments than the minuscule amount that this site attracts.

If you were to work on a hit-to-comment ratio like that (600000 hits vs an average of 6 comments per article), other sites like WHTID or KUMB, where hundreds of comments are regularly left, would have hits in the millions and millions!

Notice how no other sites actually feel the need to display a hit counter though? Everything about this 'blog' is pony. Not that any of you will get to read this as he's to cowardly to turn the moderator facility off. Just another tick in the box on the pony site card.

It's up there with white text on a black background.

Just behind the quality of the writing.

You still gutted that Parker didn't leave? Must be smarting a bit that you didn't ship your Captain and best player out the door eh...

1902 You meant "too". Read more than 633,000 times actually and counting - and all since last October!
