Wonderful, wonderful words, but if Unreal City need to win on the last day of the season to qualify for the Champions League and the ball falls to Tevez in the box, is he going to miss? Those of us who are old enough remember Denis Law scoring the goal for Manchester City that relegated his beloved Manchester United - his celebration was to cry, but he still scored the goal!
We have all felt a dangerous renewed confidence this week and Tevez's words should make us all sit up and think: maybe, just maybe, this relegation is written in the stars. Maybe the gods are "just" and, as in a Greek tragedy or in a modern twist on Faustus, we signed away our souls when we signed Tevez on that Third Party Agreement!
And if it isn't Tevez who sinks us at Upton Park, there's still the chance of Mascherano, "the sleeper" in this unresolved saga, netting an own goal at Hull to give them victory on the last day. Or Defoe missing a penalty for Tottenham at Burnley! Or, of course, Bellyache returning and firing home the winner for the Sky High Salaries that sends us down.
So many possibilities. Dear God, and this time yesterday I thought we were as good as safe!

Not gonna happen big boy. Wigan are not gonna win another game, Hull screwed up letting Brown go and Burnley are as good as gone.

Hammersfan, i think Carlos does like us. He knows that we are good fans at Hammers. Look at Brooking, Di Canio, spoken of as gods. We have never forgotten Moore & never will. I think City will be sorted by the time we meet & if Tevez had to do his job, that's the way it goes. He would not celebrate. Wouldn't we love to see him back. Defoe would send us down, Lampard would,& celebrate the goal, but the likes of Carlos, the Ferdinands or Joe Cole, i doubt it.

Hope you are right! We must win the Wigan game at Upton Park. That will give us 34 points and Hull/Burnley would need to get at least 8 points from their remaining 4/5 games which is hopefully unlikely. It's going to be a long 90 minutes if we need 3 points against Man. City in the final game...
Perhaps HF can use his prediction skills to let us know the likely points that will be picked up by our relegation rivals, and help us sleep better in the mean-time!
I wouldn't dare mate, it would be inviting fate! However, I said some time ago that 35 points would definitely be enough and 34 would probably suffice. I'll stick with that, which makes the Wigan and Fulham games crucial. We play Fulham 3 days after a European semifinal - that must help. Wigan do have a good record at the Boleyn unfortunately and were very unlucky to lose last season's opener on our turf. I fear plenty of nail biting yet and, the elation of Saturday now past, I remain anxious. Too many of our fans are now treating survival as a forgone conclusion. They should know better! This is West Ham!

The Wigan game is crucial because it keeps them in the mix if Burnley/Hull do better than expected.
We normally do quite well at Fulham but they are playing well at home. Don't expect any favours. Their chairman has already "stuck up two fingers" in our direction. The Z man or Konchesky to get the winner here to add to your list above?
40 points is normally the survival target so if we stay up with 34/35 then perhaps fortune is still smiling on us.

Yep, that is the plan. I don't think it will go to the last game but it may not be because of our own good work but because of the ineptness of the others. Ah well, summer clear out.
Wigan are in big trouble. I think Martinez is the manager HF thinks Zola is i.e. someone lost.
Pompey are on their knees after Sunday. Wigan will secure their place in the Prem tomorrow night.
