Manchester United v West Ham. Who Dares...

...gets a mauling? There's a dangerous confidence surrounding tonight's game based on our two victories over Hull and Birmingham and Manchester United having a bad day at the office at Everton. Suddenly we have become undefeatable and the Mancs are a bunch of lame brained pussies. According to some, we collect three points just by showing up!

It is amazing how quickly a victory over AC Milan in the San Siro can be forgotten. If three goals against the Italian giants isn't warning enough, the little matter of the reverse we suffered at Upton Park, when Manchester United didn't have a defence, should serve as a warning. The defeat at Everton was a disastrous result for us. Without it, Fergie might have rested Rooney and the whole team might have gone into tonight's game thinking about the League Cup final. Now Fergie will be in their faces, demanding a huge improvement or else! As I said the other day, it is never clever to get into the arena with a wounded lion.

Victory would be wonderful but McCarthy wrote this game off and, until the weekend, most Hammers fans who expressed a preference, backed his decision, calling it sound management. If it made sense for Wolves, why not for ourselves? Parker is one yellow card away from another suspension; should we play him? What if Diamanti, Upson or Cole were to get injured?

I am not backing that policy of course. I don't hold out much hope for tonight but with Diamanti and Cole firing we do have a squeak of a chance. I expect to see either the same team as on Saturday or for Collison to come in instead of Franco. To get anything, we will have to be at the very top of our game: which means Tomkins and Spector in particular will have to be screened effectively. If we go a goal down early doors, I hope to God that we keep an eye on the goal difference column. At present the -5 gd is like an extra point; I don't want it doubled after a five goal spanking!

I don't do predictions as everybody knows so I will go for 2-0. To who? Now that would be telling!

I don't think anyone anywhere has even contemplated us getting three points just by showing up. Don't make west ham fans out to be like that cause it's not the case

Is it not the case?

I know you like to consider yourself superior to other West Ham fans, and I know you love to have a deviating opinion, but what grinds my gears is the constant reminder of your past opinions, nobody likes a smart Alec, and nobody likes Robbie Savage, and you my friend are very similar to both. 'According to some, we collect three points just by showing up!' prove it! We have fantastic momentum and everybody is in high spirits, if people want to think we may get a point or more against Man United who are you to degrade their opinion? your reason for why the defeat at Everton is disastrous for us is ridiculous, if that was the case they would lose on purpose against Wolves in order to beat Chelsea the following game. Why can you simply not say "I disagree with the opinion that we will win the game or draw for that matter, but i thnk West Ham will lose". Wouldn't get people ravelled up and wouldn't make you the most hated man on the internet.

Most hated man on the internet? Bloody hell, I am doing well. As usual, you logic is all at sea. United would not want to lose 3 points to Wolves in the hope of winning 3 against Chelsea would they? Question. How often this century have Manchester United failed to win at home after a defeat in the previous game? You might find three or four occasions if you are lucky! It is the Law of Probability. Would we stand more chance if Rooney was rested? Would Ferguson have been more inclined to rest him if the Mancs had won at Everton? The answer to both those questions is yes. Will Fergie have them fired up for tonight. You can bet your life he will.

I think tonight will be a big test for our recent good performers. Spector, Behrami, Faubert, Diamanti and Kovac. I hope they continue their good work.

Franco's hold-up play will be vital tonight.

Good point in regards to the goal difference HF. If we do win it, it will have to be a robbery i.e. defend all game and nick one at the end.

he's trying to maintain two impossible positions. you can't be right all the time and a football fan. the two are mutually exclusive. this is especially true if you're a hammer; but then we all know that...

More crass logic. It is easy to be right all the time and be a West Ham fan! You start the season saying, another year not winning the title! Easy to be wrong if you support Man Utd or Chelsea!
