Capello Index Nails Green To The Cross!
God only knows what he was thinking of when he agreed to this "Capello Index", apart from filthy lucre of course, but the ratings that were published live on the net today, in the name of our esteemed England manager, damned dear Robert Green as the worst of the worst at the World Cup.
That comes as no surprise to me. I blogged that our early exit was ultimately down to Green. It was his blunder that allowed the USA to draw that opening group game and, but for that, we would have topped the group and would have had a relatively easy journey through to the semifinal. Of course, Hammers fans leapt to the defence of Green as soon as I posted that article; but the Capello Index appears to have arrived at the same conclusion.
"What about that great second half save?". It didn't make up for the dreadful, unforgivable error, just as I said, and as the Capello index has now confirmed!
Poor Rob, like Jesus, has been crucified. But there the similarity with the Christian Messiah ends. Jesus allegedly saves. Sadly, at a World Cup, Rob Green doesn't!

Can't use that language.
Nevermind what the ranking for Green is, what does this say about Capello? My God, how naive to keep an index of performance for each player? The one thing that any manager who hopes to be a leader should not do is rank his players. And obviously, although he says he did not authorise its publication he gave it someone in order to leak to the press.
I am not at all convinced about Capello and I don't think he should have been given a second chance. That doesn't mean the players could have won the World Cup, but with a better manager, I am sure they could better. Probably a lot better!
terry and upson the 3rd and 4th best players, did he watch the germany game? lol
wright phillips the 2nd best player!
enough said, i wonder how highly capello rated himself, afterall he picked green ahead of a better keeper in hart and a seasoned pro (that he gave the number 1 jersey to) in david james. and if that was his only mistake i wouldn't mind but thats well down the list
i'm afraid capello gets a 45.58 on the capello scale
Sorry to interject off-topic, but can I just point out that we're currently 1-0 to the good at half-time (Cole header, Sears assist) in Germany against VFL Borussia Monchengladbach!
Starting line-up:
Kurucz,
Faubert, Gabbidon, Tomkins, Ilunga;
Dyer, Noble, Hitzlsperger, Boa Morte;
Sears, Cole (Capt).
2-0 west ham. fat boy benny has scored
Yep...and it's 2-0 at full-time!
...with the second coming on 51 minutes from a certain....wait for it....
...Benedict Saul McCarthy, with a "stunner" (according to OS live text)
What do you think of that then HF?!
Never mind me, Sullivan and Gold will be delighted! We don't need Parker, Behrami, Upson or Green! Sell, Sell, Sell, Sell!
Go Benni I still believe just like I have since '94
how many goals did James concede? £20000 a day you would think Capello would be a little better at the job than Zola but I think not in fact I think England were lucky to get out the group at all They were in one of the weakest groups in the competition and were abysmal So rather than blame Green Capello should have fallen on his sword Seems these Italians don't go much for honour these days
Most people make a big mistake in their lives I have made many. Rob Green's came at an unfortunate time. Does anybody feel any pitty for the horror he must have felt. Personally I think if Capello had played James in the USA match the result would have been the same because he wouldn't have made the excellent near post save that Green managed. If Capello had kept faith in Green who is a very good shot stopper he would probably have saved two of the goals that James let in through being slow and lumbering. Try to be a little more compassionate HF and a little less self righteous.
Well that was the gospel according to John, I'm waiting now for the contributions of Matthew, Mark and Luke! The trouble is, John, Green was always going to make that mistake. It is down to a suspect temperament I'm afraid.
We agree with John
Back 'on-topic'....let's rationalise this a little more...
I've looked at the 'Capello Index' in detail, including the so-called formula with which it's worked out.
By just inspecting the performance criteria involved, it doesn't take an astro-physicist to see that it favours outfield players rather than keepers anyway, so it's no wonder Green got the low rating he did! The 'Star Man' ratings in The Sun probably carry more credibility!!
Add to that the fact that Mr Fab Cap himself is said to be 'furious' at the Internet publication of the site and has legal advisors working on it's withdrawal...what does that tell us?! Ummm....that it's shite!
Shite but right Shaun! The trouble is, it makes Capello look stupid! He picked Green! He backed Rooney! God he looks a pillock when his own "Index" shows his selections were absurd! What did he say about picking players on form, not on reputation? Well on that basis, we don't need him! Give the job to a computer! I can see the headlines now, "Sack the Index!" or "Index to be Kinighted!"
Green was the worst of the worst though, wasn't he?
[I'm laughing typing this].... You don't honestly think I'm going to agree with your opinion of Rob Green do you HF?! You KNOW my opinion of him! I made that quite clear after his performance in the Wigan 3-2 match, even though you gave me a goalkeeping tutorial implying otherwise! He is a superb keeper and an asset to West Ham...fact!
Don't start recalling errors and spills...old news! Admittedly, even as a fan of his and West Ham, his World Cup faux pas made me go 'Ouch!'...but then by the same token, some of David James' antics and clowning in the past have had me laughing hysterically and would make Bruce Grobbelaar look like Gordon Banks by comparison (sorry Gordon!).
As for the 'index'...that's my point, it ISN'T right...it's theoretically and mathematically flawed. Capello is NO genius...he's a football coach!
None of Pythagoras, Archimedes or Einstein's theories made them look like fecking eejits did they?!
I'm of the opinion that the sum of the square of the shorter sides will someday prove greater than the square of hypotenuse. And then a certain Pythagoras will end up with egg on his face won't he? And then there was that business about reincarnation!
That simply ain't gonna happen mate....cos SOHCAHTOA says so!!
...and please don't start me off on the tinned milk thing!!..it's just the wrongest wrong thing to come out of Wrongville!!
LOL, i was thinking of carnation milk as I wrote it too! I remember having condensed milk in tea and spread on bread as a kid! How disgusting!
