Red Light For Green Move

Poor Robert Green, it seems that his whole career slipped through his fingers, along with our chances in the World Cup, when he made a monumental hash of trying to save that "shot" in the USA game. Wenger immediately thought better of signing him. Let's face it, he already has Almunia and Fabianski so why does he need another butter fingered keeper?

Woy's departure to Liverpool was also bad news for Gween. You would back Woy to wehabilitate Wob in the quiet backwaters of Cwaven Cottage, but he is hardly going to wisk him in the bwight glare of Anfield is he? And anyway, with Popeye Weina at the club, Woy doesn't need another keeper does he?

So where does Rob go from here? Tottenham don't need him. Nor do Everton. Newcastle might see him as an improvement on Harper but are unlikely to waste money when the differential is so minuscule. Maybe Villa? But there has been no whiff of a link.

18 months ago, Green could have had his pick of a host of clubs but a mediocre (or some would say poor) season had put paid to that, even before that catastrophic clanger. Now it looks as if Green is stuck at West Ham and that West Ham are stuck with Green.

Let's hope Avram can rebuild Green's confidence. He is not an international keeper and never has been - as I always maintained. But he was a very competent Premiership keeper with outstanding shot stopping ability. The worry is, how much that error will undermine his confidence generally. Robinson was a nervous wreck for 12 months after his nightmare moment; let's hope Green can quickly put the recent past behind him and recover his form of old.

i hope green doesn't go. i think hes a very good goalkeeper. anyone can make a mistake. before he got called up to play for england. everyone was saying what a great goalkeeper he was and that hes the best goalkeeper in the country. before last season he was great for us. one mistake doesn't suddenly mean hes rubbish. look how many times hes saved us with penalties. class goalkeeper in my eyes. just needs to build hes confidence back up. thats all.

Class keeper hope he stays. Only total knobs will judge him on that 1 error. Green all us true hammers have faith in you.

A better defence would take some pressure off him but he is still a poor keeper in my opinion.

We've been linked to Sol Campbell, which I think is good as long as we don't pay over the odds.

Not prepared to meet his wage demands apparently.

it's the "as I always maintained" that really gets my goat - you ram it down our throats time and time again....... Green was touted for many seasons as being one of the best and ALL keepers have a loss of form - I'll be happy if he stays.

One thing I've noticed about you hf is that you have a short memory and you are always for sacking / outing everyone - we'd be better off putting faith in people rather than a revolving door policy - we need a back bone to build on and if you're for getting rid of everyone at the first opportunity then we'll keep repeating the same form season after season.

Do I say i want to get rid of Green here? I don't think I do. I think I say that I hope Avram can rebuild his confidence. I wanted Turds out it is true, but I never wanted him appointed in the first place. Zola had to go didn't he? Trouble is, I was saying it six months before everybody else. That just makes me more right than you lot!

He's a decent shot stopper but come on people, its not like he's made just the one mistake. Have you all forgotten the mistakes he's made for us. Bolton matches in the last two seasons spring to mind.

According to a report on goal.com he made more mistakes that directly led to a goal than any other player last season.

I'm not really fussed either way if we sell him or not. If he goes we'll probably replace him with someone of a very similar standard, maybe just a bit older and cheaper. If he stays, we've got a reasonably good keeper on the books.

Green's confidence will be fine. He's of solid character - note the way he faced up to the world's media he day after the mishap.

Green (not Tevez) kept us up in 2007 and he'll save us again.

I've allways rated Greeny and I still do.

Sure the last campaign was not his best but the whole team performance was way too low.

In the 08/09 season he did his job brillant. I am confident Rob will become as good as he was at that time.

Green is a great shot stopper as everyone has quite rightly mentioned. He has a tendency to rush off the goal line on crosses, or not in some cases. He has a bit of a decision making problem. His talent is unquestionable. With the new goalkeeping coach Coles we have got a great coach, one who works on the physical side and one that works psycologically, this is what we need with Green. I do believe Coles can improve him even more. He does have a tendency to make mistakes, but would he make that many with a better defence. Most the time he is reliable, but when you get tested so many times in a game, things can come unstuck. I think we should be getting behind the boys and Grant and have a successful season. COYI

But how many saves did he actually make last season? Very few! How many in the home game against Everton? They only had three shots and scored twice, the second from the rebound of Green's only save in the game! Did he make a single save at home to Wolves? I don't remember one! How about in the Stoke game at the Boleyn? I'm struggling to remember one. Then in either league game against Bolton? Nope, my mind's a blank. At home to Man Utd? Can't remember one! And so it goes on. There was the penalty save against Villa, and touching a thunderous shot onto the bar against somebody and...can you remember a brilliant Green save all season apart from those?

I think mate that whilst players are wearing the mighty claret and blue you should be gettign behind them not slatign them. Once they leave then yeah go for it, but bloody hell get behind them fans like you who are soo negative are what we don't need, realist or not, get nehind your "team" and show support to them!
