West Ham and Tottenham at Phoney War over Parker

I nearly said that David Sullivan has been reading "1984" but that is so implausable that I corrected myself at the last moment - he has clearly seen the film!

Of course Big Brother Sullivan understands perfectly that "War is Peace" (Just like he understands "Pornography is Love"), and Tottenham Hotspurs represent the perfect Goldstein, of course, because of their Jewish links. As Orwell tells us, "the consciousness of being at war, and therefore in danger, makes the handing-over of all power to a small caste seem the natural, unavoidable condition of survival." At the moment Sullivan is orchestrating Hate Week!

Sullivan also understands that "the essential act of the Party is to use conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty." Mind you, Duxbury left behind the Idiot Guide on this when he made his hasty exit from the CEO office!

Not that Sullivan necessarily understands what he is doing, of course. Just like the Three Monkeys Brigade within our fan base, Sullivan is probably fully conditioned by Doublethink, described by Orwell as "the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in ones' mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them." So, Sullivan probably believes his statement on the OS, whilst at the same time knowing that Parker will be sold, just like the posters on here who tell me that West Ham will not sell Parker but that Parker will probably leave anyway!

And ahead of the reaction of the Three Monkeys Brigade to this post, let me share with you how Orwell has predicted your mental health:

"We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards West Ham. There will be no love, except the love of David Sullivan. There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. When we are omnipotent there will be no need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always—do not forget this Winston—always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever."

Look in the mirror guys, Orwell saw you coming!

I think you got a bit carried away with this HF. Of course, as I stated before without becoming an optimist, I do hope you are wrong about G&S.

The truth of course, will not be found at the extremes. I think they are two guys who mean well and also want to be successful in making their investment yield a good return. While meaning well however they obviously get a little intoxicated from the power that comes from the opportunity to carry this Club towards glory and like you, they also get carried away, simply because they find or sometimes put themselves in the limelight.

The difference between what you say and what I think is the truth with the Davids is that they are NOT masterminding a conspiracy against anyone (and in particular the fans). In any case, as I stated before, I don't think they are capable of putting together and executing such a diabolical plan.

They are a fans like us, but they are also investors who are concerned by how to make West Ham a success and their investment pay. The two go hand in hand and I am sure G&S understand that. You cannot have the one without the other.

Sullivan and Gold have an idea how to get there (the Olympic Stadium is part of it) but they have not thought out each and every tactic. Very often, people like this, although they make mistakes along the way, manage to get to their target. I hope they do mostly for the sake of fans. But if they do and also make a profit I will wish well.

"All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice."

I have to be honest, and this is a first, and whilst I don't wish this to be seen as any form of encouragement for you.... because I actually hate this blog and all that you stand for, I do actually agree with you on this one and only point.... I read the back page of the evening standard last night and the first thought that I had was that this is phoney!

I have been reading this blog for months now but you are so downbeat about everything. It appears you hope west ham crash and burn so you can state at the end of it 'I told you so'. Quite frankly I do not believe you are a west ham fan and further more I think that you are an over-exaggerating pessimist. I used to think that you made a good read but those days are long gone.

I'm just doing the math and wondered if someone who is not bias could count the positive and negative responses to the post for me, then I can work out the stats for HF and let him know how successful or not that he has been. thanks in advance.

1041 I know what you mean but hf's posts are pure sensationalism (again) he just doesn't know how to do balanced.

Mr Hammersfan,

in your post on WEDNESDAY, 28 JULY 2010 - The Tottenham offer for Parker was allegedly £7m!

You wrote:

"As opening gambits go, this Tottenham offer was derisory. Why on earth has Sullivan given it credibility by making his, "I will never betray the fans statement"? It's a bit like me claiming proof of my love for my wife by refusing to trade her for a knackered old camel! (But if anybody has a knackered old camel to trade...)"

Well I've just come across a knackered old donkey, will it suffice? does it have to be alive? Anyway! I think this represents a good deal as I haven't seen your wife yet. Can she speak German? Or does she just talk rubbish like you?

If you wont trade your wife, what about your Spuds season ticket?

Wow, where did that lot come from Dave? How do you access that information?

Anonymous said...

Blimey Dave - looks like you know your onions - a little different to the 730,000 that HF reckons he gets

Hammersfan said...

Seems about right. 1400 unique visitors a week, with most returning every day through the week and a few times each day would explain how the site is averaging about 2000 hits per day since last October. The slight drop is explained by the end of the World Cup and the Prem season. I have been surprised by how visitors have been maintained through the "close season". I mean, what has actually happened over the last three weeks?

Dave, how many of the sites above TGGC are porn sites out of interest?

All finished.

KUMB is a big site. Must be, Duxbury shared his deceits with them and they platformed his cobblers. Same is true of WHTID. I think what your figures show is that there is a place for all sorts of West Ham sites as I keep saying.

Thanks for all that Dave. I'm sure I will not be the only interested reader!

Dave, can you drop me an email please so we can chat properly?

DaveTheRave said...

you won't have to change your sites address, and to be honest analytics's is a bit of a head fuk, I have emailed you

You won't have to change the site's address HF!

Have a go at Dave's thing, if not, let me know and we'll go over the analytics again. It is as simple as pasting a bit of code on one of the pages on your blog.
