West Ham Chasing The New Cruyff

Well we are bidding for the new Henry, were linked with the new Pele and are also lining up the new Messi, so surely there must be a new Cruyff out there somewhere! What a load of cobblers these journalists write!

To be fair, I have seen a guy in a West Ham shirt doing a passable impression of that wonderful Cruyff feint, turning an opponent in a sublime flash of brilliance. Who was that man? Carlos Tevez? Nope. Trevor Brooking? Nope. Yossi? He came close a couple of times but not close enough.

Any idea who I'm thinking of?

It's probably someone silly like Spector.

Were we born then HF or was it during your younger days?

Hammersfan said...

All wrong so far. John Motson called it once, "Ha ha, that was straight out of Cruyff's book!"

Hammersfan said...

If Spector did it, he would leave himself floundering!

Steve potts or ian dowie

Hammersfan said...

And he didn't just do it that once! I saw it live and on TV a couple of times. He also did it once on TV in the shirt of a rival team.

Hammersfan said...

Come on guys, you are not going to get sillier than Spector or Mido so try to come up with a possible contender!

Stani Army said...

Give us a clue. What nationality is he?

Hammersfan said...

I'll give you some clues later.

That caravan was going south down the A12 one minute then, wham heading North just like that!

Hammersfan said...

No, not Frank. Apparently Cruyff learnt how to do it from Frank Senior however!

'Arry allegedly had his own version though. A transfer fee was paid above the table whilst a brown envelope came back underneath!

First clue. He played more than 200 games for West Ham.

Hammersfan said...

Zola came the closest to a Brooking feint, looking as if he was going to turn but allowing the ball to run ahead of him. But no.

Somebody else must have seen him do it! There were more than 20,000 in the ground when I saw it live. How many would have seen it on MOTD?

yep your right shaunsaid. top man.

Deane said...

I was there when Pottsy scored and the bookies still never gave him more than 25-1 to score

Hammersfan said...

But they offered 33-1 on Mido even as he lined up that penalty!

anyotherbizniz said...

I saw Rio do it at UP - in the opponent's penalty area. He followed it up with a crap cross/pass unfortunately. I can't remember who we were playing.

Stani Army said...

...that is true! I remember it because he looked very ungainly.

Hammersfan said...

I kind of remember that too. Actually Cruyff followed the turn pictured above with a cross that was hit too deep!
