Avram Signed Sealed And Delivered

The work permit has been rubber stamped so Avram is now officially our man. Sound the trumpets and lets hope the walls of Jericho don't come tumbling down!

The summer has started well with the arrival of Hitlersburger. We are being linked with Belhadj (a new Bellend at Upton Park?)and Yakubu too. And so far, nobody has left. Well nobody other than Mido, General Franco and Ilan - and we didn't own any of them anyway.

Ilan's agent is working hard meanwhile, trying to convince the world that there is a queue of clubs looking to sign the Brazilian. I'm very comfortable with the decision to release him personally. Yes his goals per games ratio was impressive but he didn't look like he would sustain it over an extended period to me. Franco looked the better player to me. And he was 34 so, again, his release makes sense. What is reassuring is that S&G released them, rather than sign up two available and cheap options. That suggests they are serious about overseeing improvements on the pitch as well as in their bank balances.

Roll on the second signing. In the meantime, there's the little matter of a World Cup!

I know I don't support England (my friends won't let me I get the you're not English treatment when I try)but it is my home now so actually I do but I really don't want England to win the World Cup because I would really hate to see Steve "the diver" Gerrard lift the cup In fact I'd rather Lampard than Gerrard And you know the depth of my feeling toward Lampard

Glad to see someone agrees with the release of Franco and Ilan!

People say it was all Sullivan's doing, but maybe Avram didn't want them? Maybe he thought, if were going to have strikers that aren't that great at the club, they're at least going to be my decision. Hence bidding for Piquionne.

"West Ham United are delighted to confirm that Avram Grant has been issued a work permit by the Home Office and is now free to take charge at the Boleyn Ground."

...is he the manager or groundsman/caretaker?
